In this course you will explore how Native nations in the colonial era influenced life in the British colonies and responded to those encroaching on their land. Through videos, background readings, and primary source analysis, investigate the political systems and values of Native nations, such as the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confederacy), analyze the diversity of colonial life and Native contributions to trade and diplomacy, and evaluate the rising tensions that emerged as settlers pushed westward.
