After releasing his Sonic Verve album in 2022 where he shared his vision of Broken Beat and electronic Jazz in a clubbier context and his Debonair single earlier this year, Last to Leave is different to all before mentioned releases. But that's no surprise as you won't find two Renegades Of Jazz releases sounding the same. Once again Hanke moves forward to evolve his sound and always wants to step in, for him, uncharted territories. With no surprise Last to Leave is therefore something new in the Renegades Of Jazz repertoire. Combining Afro guitars and horns, fuzzy rock basslines, breaky drums, psychedelic synthesizer melodies and soulful vocals makes Last to Leave a clash of styles. A bit different Feeling Alright comes along. A midtempo feelgood song with no less combined styles, but Feeling Alright sources from Hip-Hop grooves with live drums, a head-nodding slowfunk bassline, beautiful strings, distinctive Jazz horns and soulful vocals again.
