This playlist is an Audio Documentary about the highest-casualty battle of the Iraq War (2003-2011) which was both a crucible for the Marines and Soldiers who underwent it and a cruel reminder of the power of appearance in War. All credit to Laura Cross (Laura Holycross) and Rebel Seed Studio for creating this epic series. Link to transcripts and battle-rattle kits: (
www.rebelseedstudio.com/blogs/battlefield-fallujah ), I recommend using this to follow along the narrative. All of this is based on Operation Phantom Fury: The Assault and Capture of Fallujah, Iraq (2009) By Colonel Richard Camp (Retired) (United States Marine Corp).
Reminiscent of the Battle of Huế (1968) which acted as a catalyst for opposition to the War whereas, in Iraq at least, public opposition precipitated withdrawal of support and thereby hamstringing military plans (Terminating the First Battle of Fallujah (2004).). I found this in 2021 when looking into the Battle a bit after The Armchair Historian released his video (My YouTube History page suggests I found it on the 23rd October 2021.) and am grateful for him introducing me to it. This playlist however is far more detailed.
"Most of the interviews with the Marines and soldiers were conducted by military historians in theater in Iraq, many of them in the Fallujah battle zone or the surrounding areas. Almost all of them were recorded within days or weeks of the battle, and a few were conducted while the battle was still in progress. Because none of the interviews were recorded in a quiet, sound-proof studio, you will hear background noise, some louder than others. You may hear military equipment, vehicles, aircraft, weapons or ordnance."
I would also recommend looking at the Short Film that is associated called Devil Dogs: (
www.rebelseedstudio.com/blogs/devil-dogs (You can watch it for free from this page.)) and there are a couple free books on the shop page which are good. Edit: It has been a couple months since I made the playlist and only now (17.09.23) at 06:13 PM or 06:14 PM did I realise that I did not include Episode 6 in the playlist! If anyone has missed it out sorry and do watch.
