My channel is dedicated to helping preserve the history of classic video games through the form of longplays. A longplay can be considered the opposite of a speed-run, and is designed to:
- Showcase gameplay principles and mechanics in detail
- Explore majority of levels and secrets where possible (level skips are generally avoided)
- Show game ending/multiple endings where possible
Videos are captured using a lossless codec, then upscaled (typically 8x) and transcoded to H.264 for upload to YouTube. Some videos retain 1:1 pixel mapping, while others are converted to 4:3 aspect ratio; I'll choose whichever format looks best for the game in question.
Cheats are never used as part of recording (unless a game simply cannot be completed without them), but the vast majority of videos are recorded using save states, tools, or some other workflow methodology to assist in the capture process. Online guides and FAQs are often used, and I'll create homemade maps if no such resources exist.

PSA: In the event YouTube incorrectly auto-dubs my videos into other languages, you can disable this by selecting the video options cog, then changing the audio track (see image).

AL82 Retrogaming Longplays
Back in 2012, I uploaded the first longplay video to this channel without really knowing whether anyone would bother watching.
Almost 13 years later, and having finally reached the 100K subscriber mark, I wanted to give my sincerest thanks to everyone who has helped the channel grow to reach this amazing milestone. From stone cold classics, to the down-right despicable, it's been a fascinating journey through the annals of video game history thus far, and to those who've been along for the ride, my thanks for all the support!

For anyone else viewing on PC/desktop browsers and find 3:4 videos for vertical shmups now have the right-hand part of the video obscured, a workaround is to put the video player into full-screen or theater mode; hoping YouTube fixes this soon.

I can't get over just how brilliant the artwork in King of the Monsters is - so much detail in so few pixels! Just amazing stuff!
