TISS Mumbai HRM&LR

Time moved quietly, and suddenly, here we are!

From the daily rush between AR Wadia Hall and C1 for lectures to familiar tea breaks at Nagori, your days were shaped by moments both ordinary and unforgettable. The Quadrangle witnessed your celebrations and quiet conversations, while the badminton court echoed with laughter, competition, and the joy of playing together after long days. Each space now holds stories known only to those who lived them.

Beyond academics, you stepped into roles that defined your time here more deeply. You guided juniors with patience, offered reassurance during moments of uncertainty, and chose to be a steady helping hand when things felt overwhelming, shaping a culture of care that extended beyond classrooms and timetables.

Through demanding schedules and shared challenges, you learned the values of empathy, resilience, and responsibility. You grew not only as professionals, but as individuals who understand the importance of standing by one another.

As you move forward, the campus will continue to carry traces of your presence in the friendships you built and the guidance you offered. This is not a farewell, but a quiet recognition of a chapter lived fully.

Thank you, Batch of 2024–26, for everything you brought to TISS and for the legacy you leave behind.

A special note of thanks to the class representatives Sanket Bansod and Shivani Sharma for thoughtfully arranging this photoshoot and preserving these moments in time.

I never thought that by 21, I would live through so many versions of myself.
In school, everything felt clear. White coat. Stethoscope. My parents proud. Doctor. That was the dream. Then COVID came. Schools shut. Coaching stopped. I did not even have a phone to study online. I watched my dream slip away.
After 12th, I asked my father for help with coaching. Money was tight. Instead of support, I faced doubt. That rejection changed me. I let go of the dream and chose Civil Services. I joined a BA program and studied every day. Still, I knew this was not my path.
YouTube started by accident. I made videos to help school students. No plan. It grew to 50,000 subscribers and over 1,000 videos. For the first time, I earned on my own. That independence changed me.
I invested all my savings into a tea franchise. Within weeks, I knew I had made a mistake. The stress put me in the hospital. My savings were gone. My health suffered.
Still, I kept going. I prepared for CAT and gave CUET PG without hope. I converted TISS Analytics. Then my YouTube channel got terminated. Two years of work vanished overnight.
I joined TISS Analytics with gratitude. Missing HRM by two marks stayed with me. I continued CAT prep. Then came the HRM interview. I spoke honestly. I converted.
Everything I thought I lost led me here. You cannot control what is written, only whether you keep going. I have been broken many times. Every time, I chose to rise. I am still figuring things out. Still building myself!

I come from a family that knows what it means to fight for every step forward.
My parents were the first in their families to graduate. Think about that for a second. No blueprint, no safety net, just raw determination to give their kids a better shot at life. They sacrificed things I'll probably never fully understand so I could have opportunities they never did. But even with that foundation, nothing came easy. Financial constraints were real. Academic pressure was constant. And personal setbacks? They hit harder than I ever expected.
There was a phase where I prepared for competitive exams that just didn't work out. The kind of failure that makes you question everything. Am I good enough? Did I waste all that time? What now? Picking yourself up from that kind of defeat isn't dramatic or inspiring at the moment. It's messy and slow and uncomfortable.
But those struggles did something to me. They built something I didn't even realize I needed: resilience. The ability to find hope when there's no clear path forward. The understanding that the people who stand by you during your worst moments are the ones who truly matter. Getting into TISS wasn't just about clearing an exam. It was about honoring the grit my parents passed down to me and proving that every hard lesson I learned actually meant something.
As for how I made it happen? Honestly, there's no magic formula. It was messy trial and error until something finally clicked.
First, I stopped trying to sprint and learned to pace myself. Consistency over intensity became my mantra. I didn't cram for a month and burn out. I built habits instead: reading every single day, revising regularly, staying genuinely curious about what I was learning.
Second, I stopped comparing myself to everyone else. That comparison game will destroy you. Instead, I leaned into what made me different: my curiosity about people, my volunteering experiences, the time I spent in operations and HR roles. I owned my story instead of wishing it looked like someone else's.
Third, I accepted that no one does this alone. My mentors kept me focused when I felt lost. My friends reminded me I was more than just my exam scores. My family believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself.
So my "formula" wasn't about being perfect or having all the answers. It was about showing up every day, staying true to who I was, and letting small wins pile up until they turned into something real. Something big enough to carry me forward.

TISS Mumbai HRM&LR

The Day a Dream was Written in Tears.
I began my life in the humble background of a Mumbai slum, but my true journey didn't start there. It began with a sentence intended to end my story before it even started.
As I progressed through school, my vision began to fail due to a condition known as Retinitis Pigmentosa. The true moment of reckoning arrived when a specialist looked at my parents and declared, "Remove his name from the school. He can't do anything in life."
That devastating prognosis became my most powerful fuel. I cried, but in that moment, I made a silent, fierce promise: I would achieve something profound and prove that assessment wrong. I pivoted my approach, embracing technology, screen readers and digital literacy became my tools. I fought my way through my education, determined to reach the pinnacle of social scholarship.
Today, I stand here at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, pursuing my MA in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations (HRM and LR), committed to shaping corporate systems that are fundamentally more inclusive and equitable.
If someone who was told to quit school and abandon all aspirations can study at TISS and work to reshape the corporate world, then everyone, regardless of the challenges they face, can achieve their dreams. My story is not one of exception, but one of unwavering resolve. Aspire, believe, and fight because the impossible is simply a challenge waiting for your determination.

TISS Mumbai HRM&LR

I was raised in a small industrial town, the beating heart of NTPC and Hindalco, where the soundscape was the relentless hum of turbines. I witnessed a study in extremes: the grand vision of management steering the massive plants, juxtaposed with the workers and trade unions fiercely fighting for their rightful share of dignity. This duality of power and parity defined my early understanding of systems.
My deepest ambition was to pursue the UPSC, a platform that promised the scalability of impact, a dream cemented by two years teaching with the Koshish Foundation. But despite pouring my heart into the preparation, the final results were silence, forcing me to face the brutal calculus of time and cost. That low moment was not a grand drama, but when I recalled a simple personal maxim: "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." This single thought struck me with the force of a liberating truth.
In that instant, I resolved to seize the pen and rewrite my story. I chose to transition from abstract governance theory to the practical application of management. This was not a retreat, but a deliberate evolution. I saw that an MBA, particularly at TISS where Human Resource Management meets Labour Relations, would allow me to blend the empathy of my childhood industrial setting with the hard skills needed to mediate and create impact at scale.
Leaving the expensive, secure path of the UPSC was a formidable leap of faith, but that single decision to choose action has become my anchor. Whenever I face a daunting choice, I remind myself: if I had the courage to redefine failure and choose to rise, I owe it to myself to honor that commitment every single time.

My year as a merchant navy officer was a study in extremes. I witnessed the ethereal dance of the Northern Lights on a frigid New Year's Eve in Norway, and just months later, faced the stark terror of a piracy attack on my crew in the Red Sea.

However, the moment that truly charted a new course for my life wasn't one of these grand dramas, but a casual comment from a colleague. Reflecting on our long months away, he said with a wry smile, "The ship is your home now. Back on land, you're just a guest."

His words struck me with the force of a rogue wave. I was becoming a visitor in my own life, my decisions dictated by schedules set oceans away. In that moment, I resolved to reclaim authorship of my story. It was for choosing what I call home and to be a constant presence for the people I love.

Leaving a well-paid, reputable career was a formidable leap of faith, but that single decision has become my anchor.

Whenever I face a daunting choice, I remind myself : If I had the courage to leave an entire profession to prioritize my own values, I owe it to myself to honor that commitment every single time.
