After 3 years they’ve finally delivered a Smaller Ranger but the surprise was the arrival of the “Dune” Dial. I find it such an interesting take because it looks at models like the original 7909’s as inspiration and frames an alternative “what if?” scenario. Must say, I prefer this look (with all of its quirks) over the regular black dial. Below I’ve added a few adjustments, BB54 crown and a full black seconds hand. Would’ve been awesome if the entire dial was lumed to work off the negative space but hey! Enjoy the video!

There has been a lot of debate about this release (rightly so) One hand, seeing this watch depart from the same generic design formula is refreshing and celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Planet Ocean is a nice touch. But its the thickness could still have come down a hair, the solid caseback shouldn’t exist, and the case design? This new PO has many polarising traits, but the closer you look at it, the more you see. It’s a textbook case study of hybridising old and new design to create something completely modern.
