The soul is ever-tasting and ever-desiring. When it tastes the sweetness of faith and its joy settles in the heart, Allah's love becomes firmly rooted—and nothing is ever preferred over it." — Ibn al-Qayyim.

To the degree that a sin seems small to you, it becomes great in the sight of Allah. And to the degree that it seems great to you, it becomes small in the sight of Allah." – Al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyád. A profound reminder about the true measure of our deeds and the importance of humility in our perception of right and wrong. Let's strive to see our actions through His lens, not our own.

The chains of our sins are sometimes silent, but their weight is felt in our deeds.

Al-Fuḍayl ibn ‘Iyāḍ reminds us of a stark reality: If we find ourselves unable to stand for the night prayer (Qiyam/Tahajjud) or fast during the day (voluntary fasts), it's a sign that we may be spiritually deprived. Let's work to break those shackles and seek a closer relationship with Allah.

May Allah grant us the strength to worship Him sincerely.

The true tests of sincerity are hidden from the eyes of the people.

Imam Shaffi’i highlighted the three hardest deeds:

Generosity in times of scarcity. (Giving when you need it most.)

Piety in solitude. (Worship when no one is watching.)

A word of truth to one who is both hoped for and feared. (Speaking truth to power/influence.)

May Allah grant us the strength to master these deeds.

The hardest deeds are four: generosity when one is poor, piety when one is alone, speaking the truth to one whom you fear and hope from, and restraining anger when one is angry."

These are the battles fought silently, in the heart and behind closed doors. They are the true signs of sincerity. May Allah make us amongst those who are successful in these four trials.

Whoever sees Allah’s blessings upon him only in food, drink, and bodily health has received very little share of true understanding. The greatest blessing is that Allah grants a servant Islam and Imān, draws him to obedience, and makes him taste its sweetness. This is the most tremendous of all blessings."

— Ibn al-Qayyim, Madarij al-Salikin (1/277)

May we all recognize and cherish the sweetness of Imān.
