Join the Bad Company team on multi year adventure that covers most of the globe. Strategically located with 3 support vessels and 8 game boats. Targeting trophy Blue Marlin in all 3 oceans, Black Marlin in 2 and Surface Swords anywhere we can find them to pitch a live bait to.
BCS 150’ currently operates in the Atlantic along with the 57’ Spencer and 33’ L&H. The teams new 175’ Damen will join the team in the Indian Ocean next year with 43’ Release. We will update and share our travels and adventures here on our youtube channel for others to enjoy. Please encourage our team as we log tens of thousands of miles on the ocean and hundreds of thousands miles in the air.
“All the credit for this operation goes to the world class crew that is relentlessly focused on the execution at a grand scale.
I would also like to thank the legends in our sport, the motherships that went out and explored and innovated so that we can be inspired to do this today.”

We put our Sat tag where our mouth is. 8 budgeted for this Cape Verde Trip, 7 deployed with 1 to go. 56 total Sat Tags since the start of the world tour. Notice the short fight times, all fish released super healthy and strong. We hunt Blue and Black marlins all around the world, but with much respect. We will do our part to contribute to science and help a little bit so hopefully our grandchildren can experience what we enjoy so much. Thank you @bblockthunnus, @stanford and @theigfa, along with so many awesome biologist that helped us along the way.

Vintage 1985-1999. Boats have been a little bit of a life obsession. That 24 Skipjack I tore apart and completely rebuilt her. This 54 Bertram had 1400HP Jack Bevins 12V92. 35 knots for a boat of her era. 37 Bertram I re-powered with 435HP Cats and added a sonar, this boat I put in 13 tuna tubes in 1995. People thought I was nuts back then, nothing has changed.

Hard to say 3 for 6 is a slower day as the bite in Cape Verde has been on fire, 300, 400, 250. And a Longbill spearfish. Photos are from Ms. Piggy yesterday that we pulled the hook on. See yesterday’s post for the video and info.

BCS175 is ready to work…..I hope. Both 340kw generators are rebuilt, hoping it will last one year until we replace both with 118kw. After 3 months since my visit to Galapagos, we are unable to get the official written approval. I like to thank Al @sportfish_galapagos for his tremendous effort last 3 months pushing for our approval. Perhaps when we do finally get the approval, we can visit the island another time. Because of this development, we are changing our direction of travel to round the world. Heading East instead of West, 175 will head for Cape Verde to support BC57 Spencer in May to do a trip with @espne60 @espn, then the editing room for a broadcast on all ESPN properties. The ESPN team just left after filming the team for 2 days on land doing interviews. We may swing up to Madeira in June/July, onward to Azores Aug/Sep, and imaging having the 50 at Ascension Island end of year, and Brazil January, followed by a long run around Cape Town to Mauritious in March. Then onward to Seychelles and Oman (given geopolitical climate), and to Southeast Asia for Genset install. We do plan to spend a good 6 months in Asia as I have a particular curiosity around this region on Black Marlins there. The only constant is change, having a capable fast mothership gives options. Let’s hope the 175 finally does the job and the turd does not appear.

Happy Easter everyone. An update on the fleet and fishing.
3 months since my physical visit to Galapagos and meeting all the leaders including the President. We are told we are verbally approved and everyone wants us to come, but can’t get a written approval. So it looks like it won’t happen. Bummer.
Ricky is out of the Merritt yard with some upgrades including new interior stuff. Will be repositioned to Bahamas to load on ship to Hawaii next two weeks. She will be available for charter.
BCS150 under contract, buyer just completed surveys. She could be gone soon :(
BC38 Billfish twice under contract with both buyers flaked. Will keep on the market for sale or may keep for personal use in Florida.
BCS175 both gensets being rebuilt. Should be done next week. Cradles for the 50 done and painted. Is the 175 finally ready to set out to fish? At least a year before she sees a yard again in Southeast Asia for new gen sets.
BC50 getting more polishing and dialed in. Aaron did not like the finish on the carbon transom so it’s getting redone. This thing can’t wait anymore, it needs to go catch something.
BC32 Blackfin moved to Downtown Miami Marina. So you’ll see it cruising around Biscayne bay soon
BC43 Release mechanical items fixed. Now running to Croswait in Wanchese to do her hull for the third time. Not sure what to do with this thing after.
BC57 Spencer ready to go in Cape Verde. We will fish her end of April to start leg 18.
Time to go fishing.

Never forget where I came from. Before the big toys, just a boy that loves fishing and wanting adventure at any budget. I towed to Cabo (and mag bay) from San Diego in the 80’s. Did over 20 round trips and hit my share of cows. That was the world tour back then. It’s still the same passion and adventure, just the budget changed.
