Day 10: Morning Run

I wasn’t ‘feeling it’ today. My body was sore, it was cold and rainy outside.

I still got it done though.

Laced up my shoes and got outside to put the work in.

I ran the fastest 1 mile time today since the start of training - 8.28

That’s still slow, I know, but it’s a major improvement from 10 days ago.

When I was a college soccer player, our endurance test was called the ‘Cooper test’; 2 miles in 12 mins.

If you couldn’t make 2 miles in 12 minutes, you were deemed unfit.

I’m far from being able to beat the Cooper test right now but it’s 1 day at a time.

Small progress compounds into major improvement.

Day 9: Evening Run

5.2 miles.

I didn’t run this morning so I thought my body would be well rested this evening.

I was wrong.

My pace slowed down, my back was tight half way through the run and my bottom left calf muscle was also tight

It was tough today.

I’m proud that I fought the mental battle and I didn’t allow myself to give up.

The pain went away after mile 3.5.

I haven’t been stretching. I’ll start to incorporate this into my training routine.

Loose muscles should help me run more freely and feel better on the jog.

On to tomorrow..

Day 9 Training Update: I had an early morning meeting scheduled for my business @shipcargoai this morning so no run today.

I’ll run 6 miles this evening.

I’m at 40 miles clocked over the last 8 days. I’m listening to my body and deciding if I should pull back the miles or ramp them up.

I think I need to ramp up to higher volume, lower speed for a few sessions.

6 miles nonstop at an easy pace is what I plan to do today. I’ll see how this feels and add miles if needed. I might have to do a few sessions at 6 miles to get used to the distance.

This is new to me, I’m a beginner in running. Just like anything in life, I have to start at the bottom. I’m working my way up and improving everyday though.

Ultimately that’s the goal.

Improve within yourself. You’re not competing with anyone else, you’re competing with yourself.

Day 8: Evening Run.

I ran 4 miles this morning, I could only complete 2 miles nonstop.

I ran 5.3 miles this evening. All of it nonstop.

I’m making progress.

I ran a 5K in 33.35 today.

Yesterday I ran the same distance in 35:35.

That’s a 2 minute improvement.

I’m getting better.

My goal is to run the Cap10K in Austin, TX in under 60 mins.

Day 11: Evening run

I’m excited to run in my new equipment.

Saucony Endorphin Pro 4’s

I’ve heard good things about these shoes so I decided to buy them online and give them a go.

I’m looking for gear to stay comfortable while I’m on the jog.

I’ve been running in New Balance shoes up until today. They’ve been good but these Saucony’s are supposed to make a noticeable difference in performance. We’ll see how they feel.

I like the color wave, I think they look unique.
