Hildur Guðnadóttir

Academy Awards- and Grammy-winning composer Hildur Guðnadóttir has earned a distinctive place in contemporary music through her virtuosity, versatility, and originality. Now based in Berlin, she is receiving international acclaim for her film and television scores. She has been widely praised for her haunting soundtrack for Joker (2019)—described by The Guardian as an “unorthodox cello concerto”—for which she won an Oscar in 2020. Hildur also earned an Emmy in 2019 and a Grammy nomination in 2020 for her groundbreaking score for the HBO series Chernobyl (2019), and was named Television Composer of the Year at the World Soundtrack Awards in 2019.
