As they say most startups won’t go past first 3yrs. Hell, a 30yr old local IT business went into administration recently (Sad to hear the news). It’s tough! Some people laughed at me when I started talking Cyber at the beginning. They went as far as blocking me on social media😂 You know what, not only we survived, we thrived to a point that the same people tried to copy us😬
I started my business with £1,000, shifted the business focus to Cyber Security after a couple of years in IT support and never looked back. As any startup founders will tell you it’s been a roller coaster ride. I have had my share of challenges, ups and downs. Mostly downs!😢 Imposter syndrome and self doubt were the biggest challenges I had to overcome and I still face them at times. People and Culture are other big ones for me and I am learning every day.
Is it worth it? Absolutely. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Despite the challenges it’s been an amazing ride. As they say, business is not a sprint it’s a marathon. Pun intended!

Not too long ago I was delivering Dominos Pizza to keep my dream alive. This year I was shortlisted as Cyber Leader of the year and Cyber Influencer of the year!
One of my passions is to mentor International Students secure skilled jobs in the UK. I have been mentoring a few and today one of my mentees was offered his first role in IT. It took us a couple of months but we got there in the end. It is an incredible feeling seeing someone's dream come true.
My advice for anyone looking for a skilled job is to optimise your CV, follow the process and don't get disheartened by the rejections. Believe in yourself and don't give up. Most importantly ask for help. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
These days you can attend interviews anywhere from your kitchen table 😃 Back in 2010 I remember travelling up & down the country for interviews. I used to spend all my earnings on travel. Little did I know I can ask for reimbursement from employers 🙂 Thanks to Ajay Mandava & Raja Polina I managed to secure a job before I went broke 😁
