What did the people of Lesotho do to make president Trump slap a 50% tariff on them? Why is he punishing "a country no one has ever heard of"? (He said that just weeks ago)

One of the most underrated perks of reading the comments section of Africa Web TV is seeing white South Africans telling Julius Malema to go back to his own country (allegedly Zimbabwe!) πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Sometimes, we all need to chill, go to class and take a basic course in Irony 101

Rwanda President Kagame announces F1 race bid.

Rwanda is bidding to host a Formula 1 grand prix, the country's President Paul Kagame says. F1 is keen to hold a race in Africa and talks with Rwanda have been known about for some months. The FIA, F1's governing body, is hosting its general assembly and prize giving in the Rwandan capital Kigali.

If a deal can be agreed, the race would be held on a new track planned close to the new Bugesera airport, outside Kigali. The track designer is Alexander Wurz, a former F1 driver and the chairman of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association. The circuit, which is fast and flowing, is being built alongside a lake and makes use of the hilly topography of the area.

F1 had previously tried to revive a grand prix in South Africa at the Kyalami track, which last hosted a grand prix in 1993, but talks collapsed over problems with the local promoter. The Rwanda project is now considered the most likely for an African grand prix but the project remains unconfirmed.

Niger takes over French-controlled Uranium mine!
French nuclear firm Orano says the military authorities in Niger have taken control of its uranium mining operations in the West African country.

This marks another turning point in the relationship between France and Niger, following the expulsion of French troops from its former colony. Niger's military rulers have made it clear they were not happy with the way foreign companies had been awarded licences and believe that the country should earn more from the minerals found under its soil.

"The French state, through its head of state, has declared that it does not recognise the current authorities in Niger. Does it seem possible to you that we, the state of Niger, would allow French companies to continue extracting our natural resources?" Niger's Minister of Mines Colonel Abarchi Ousmane recently said.

Niger achieved independence from France in 1960 and the former colonial power managed to secure exclusive access to Niger's uranium supply through various agreements. But military leader Abdourahamane Tiani has been adamant about wrestling power from the West and asserting Niger’s sovereignty over its own resources. Niger has one of the largest uranium deposits in the world but until now has benefitted little from the French exploitation of the mines.
