West Coast Traffic Signals

Hello, I film traffic signals! Well, it's a bit more than that. Road transportation is an interest of mine (road design, signs, signals, etc.). I like to showcase different intersections on my channel, showing good things about them, as well as pointing out areas that need changes to improve safety.

West Coast Traffic Signals

On Highway 19 (Inland Island Hwy) between Courtenay and Campbell River, some of the “Slippery Road” signs were mis-printed. The icon is reversed, which shows the driver on the right-hand side of the car! The mis-printed signs have been disappearing over the years, as worn out or damaged signs get replaced. But I believe there are still a few of the “reversed” signs in place!

New 4-section signal with green left arrow on Tillicum Rd at Carey Rd! It used to be just a 3-section, even though the left turn was protected. Only thing is they don’t run the left arrow during the LPI, even though left turns don’t conflict with the crosswalk.

West Coast Traffic Signals

I was doing some street-view surfing and came across this reversed pedestrian signal in Salmon Arm, BC (Highway 1 at 5 St SW)! It's a 2-section stack, but the Hand/Man section is on the bottom and the countdown timer is on top! The latest Street View imagery from October 2021 shows this messed-up pedestrian signal. But this reversed pedestrian signal can be seen as far back as September 2015! So it's been like this for at least 6 years without anyone noticing. I am so curious if it is still like this!
