This autumn promises to be a great one - THE THE has just announced not one but three new releases: ‘The Inertia Variations’, the ‘Odyssey Soundtrack’ CD media book and the double A-Side limited edition vinyl with two singles from Odyssey: ‘Unrequited’/ ‘Live & Let Live’.

‘The Inertia Variations’

The 84-minute documentary by Johanna St Michaels centered around Matt Johnson’s 12-hour live Radio Cinéola broadcast, which included live music, poetry and interviews, will be released for the first time on Blu-ray and DVD on November 28 (UK) / December 5 (US). The film – inspired by John Tottenham’s poems – sparked Matt Johnson’s return, leading to ‘Ensoulment’ and ‘The Comeback Special’. The 28-page media book includes six exclusive live performances. An exclusive British Film Institute screening and Q&A in London takes place on December 16.

‘Odyssey’ soundtrack

Matt Johnson has composed the soundtrack for his brother Gerard Johnson’s new film ‘Odyssey’, a dark metaphysical thriller set amid London’s housing crisis. The film opens in UK cinemas on November 7, with the soundtrack out December 5 (EU/UK) / January 23 (US) via Cinéola in partnership with earMUSIC. The soundtrack CD includes a wonderful 84-page hardback book, featuring a foreword by Jason Wood, a Q&A between Gerard and co-writer, Austin Collings, as well as film stills and behind-the-scenes photographs.

Double A-side 7” vinyl single, ‘Unrequited’ / ‘Live & Let Live’

This new 7” joins the collection of THE THE’s recent standalone 7-inch singles. Two music videos, featuring film footage, accompany the release of the double A-side single ‘Unrequited’ / ‘Live & Let Live’, out on November 7. Special guests on the tracks include Barrie Cadogan on guitar for ‘Unrequited’ and Gilian Glover on lead vocals for ‘Live & Let Live’.

Sweet Savage is back with ‘BANG’ – their new album!
Formed in 1979 by frontman Ray Haller and future Dio/Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell, Sweet Savage were part of the first wave of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. But unlike their peers, Sweet Savage never released a full album during their initial run. Instead, they became underground legends – gaining wide recognition when Metallica famously covered their track ‘Killing Time’. In 2011, Lars Ulrich said during a Metallica concert in San Francisco: “Sweet Savage was one of the bands that made me wanna f***** play – and they had great, great songs back in ’80, ’81.”

Well, not just in the ’80s: Sweet Savage now return in full force with frontman Ray Haller, drummer Marty McCloskey, and guitarist Phil Edgar. 'BANG' was produced by Ray Haller and Simon McBride, who also plays guitar on the record. McBride was previously a member of Sweet Savage before launching his solo career and joining Deep Purple. You can already check out the title track and the brand-new video now.

We’re just getting started…
