How to capture butterflies on a flower? This is what I taught the kids in the PA Teen Camp; you can’t chase the butterflies, they will just land briefly on a flower and fly away without you even walk close to it. Stay quiet, be still, blend in the nature as if you are part of it (well, you are). As soon as they feel comfortable, they will land on the flowers for a longer period of time, long enough for you to take the shot. Can you relate this to life?

Another BTS coming soon: off-camera flash portraits using ultra wide angle lens. YouTube has cropped photo but I promise you will see the full width in the upcoming video.
We risk our lives again, and almost got robbed in Sacramento Old Town when we were almost done with the photoshoot. Thankfully the teen assistant saw the robbers and risked her life running towards them and scared them away. I then took out the memory card and put it in my pocket; if they tried to rob me again I could at least still keep the photos.
We were blessed with a cloudy, dramatic sky. But as I said before, shooting in San Francisco and now Sacramento feels so unsafe.

San Francisco is no longer a safe place to shoot pictures! Every time when I put myself out there to film a YouTube video, I am thankful if I am still in one piece after the session. The more more equipment we throw out there, the cameras, the light equipment, the audio, our lives and everything, the better the result but the more I feel at risk. I could have lost all these expensive gears and my life if we got targeted. I will have no doubt to chase after the robbers if they took my footages! So I hope to do everything simple, if you ever see me set up OCF in a softbox, please understand the fact that I am taking the risk.
