How long will it take to learn Russian?




This is the most common question about learning Russian.
So, how long it usually takes English speakers to learn Russian?




According to FSI rankings, the category for the Russian Language is 4.
It’s described as a HARD LANGUAGE.




Students usually need around 44 weeks or 1100 hours to reach Fluency.
Of course, the number of hours is approximate,
but it helps to estimate how much time you need to spend on learning the Russian language.




It means if you spend:
• 3 hours per day - 1 year to reach fluency
• 2 hours per day - 1,5 years to reach fluency
• 1 hour per day - 3 years to reach fluency
• 30 minutes per day - 6 years to reach fluency
