🛢️ Quick Decode: Petrol Density & Ethanol Blend at IOC COCO Pump
Skip the 100 ml ethanol test—just glance at the density values and decode the blend in seconds:
- Normal Petrol
📌 Density: 756 kg/m³
💧 Ethanol Blend: ~15%
- XP95
📌 Density: 752 kg/m³
💧 Ethanol Blend: ~12%
- XP100
📌 Density: 767 kg/m³
🚫 Ethanol: 0%
⚠️ Note: Ethanol estimation via density doesn’t apply to XP100 due to its premium formulation.

Today’s density: 748.6.
Didn’t ask. Just told the pump guy it’s 10% ethanol—he was speechless.
That’s the power of a bulletproof density table. No kits, no guesswork.
Just read the numbers and decode the blend.
And yes—between 5% and 10%, the density gap is razor-thin. But when you know what to look for, it’s enough.

🛢️ Ethanol Content vs Petrol Density | Real-World Fuel Insights for Riders 🚀
Confused about E20? Wondering how ethanol blending affects petrol density and your engine’s performance?
This vibrant infographic breaks down the correlation between ethanol content and petrol density—from E00 to E20—so you can understand what’s flowing through your tank.
📊 Density Ranges Covered:
- E00: 735–740 kg/m³
- E05: 745–746 kg/m³
- E10: 749–750 kg/m³
- E12: 751–753 kg/m³
- E15: 755–757 kg/m³
- E20: 759–763 kg/m³
💡 Why it matters:
Higher ethanol = higher density, but also more risk of corrosion, rubber damage, and fuel instability. Know your blend. Protect your ride.

⚠️ Phase separation alert:
This is the same Nayra E20 petrol I tested 25 days ago. Stored airtight at room temp, but today it shows clear two-layer separation in the beaker. Shelf life (phase retention) of E20 fuel is way shorter than expected.

🛢️ Jio BP offers two petrol blends—5% and 15% ethanol—based on dealer choice and local demand.
📸 Sharing screenshots of the dealer software and pump label for the 5% blend available in my city.
🔍 Earlier, Reliance supplied high-quality non-ethanol petrol with top-tier density (735–738 kg/m³). With ethanol added, density rises:
- 5% blend → 746 kg/m³
- 15% blend → 755 kg/m³
💡 Use density as a quick reference to identify ethanol content—no testing needed. Hope Jio continues offering the 5% option!

In our ongoing video series on ethanol blending, we’ve found that fuel density can help estimate ethanol content without testing. At an IOC petrol pump in Gujarat, Normal Petrol showed a density of 757, while XP95 was 736. This suggests XP95 may have up to 10% ethanol, and Normal Petrol could contain around 15–20%.
Useful info for anyone checking fuel quality!
