English Story

One day, Mulla Nasruddin was riding on his donkey and traveling to the market. While he was talking with some friends on the road, he suddenly realized that his donkey was missing.

Mulla became very worried. He started looking everywhere for the donkey. He walked through the streets and asked people, “Have you seen my donkey?”

After some time, a man looked at him and said, “Mulla, why are you searching for your donkey? You are sitting on it!”

Mulla Nasruddin looked down and started laughing. He said, “Oh! I was so busy talking that I forgot I was already riding my donkey.”

Everyone around him laughed at this funny mistake.

Moral: Sometimes we search for things that we already have.

اردو کہانی

ایک دن ملا نصرالدین اپنے گدھے پر سوار ہو کر بازار جا رہے تھے۔ راستے میں وہ اپنے دوستوں سے باتوں میں مصروف ہو گئے۔ اچانک انہیں خیال آیا کہ ان کا گدھا کہیں گم ہو گیا ہے۔

ملا نصرالدین بہت پریشان ہو گئے۔ وہ ہر جگہ گدھے کو ڈھونڈنے لگے اور لوگوں سے پوچھنے لگے،
“کیا آپ نے میرا گدھا دیکھا ہے؟”

کچھ دیر بعد ایک آدمی نے حیرت سے کہا،
“ملا صاحب! آپ اپنے گدھے کو کیوں ڈھونڈ رہے ہیں؟ آپ تو اسی پر بیٹھے ہوئے ہیں۔”

یہ سن کر ملا نصرالدین نے نیچے دیکھا اور ہنسنے لگے۔ انہوں نے کہا،
“میں باتوں میں اتنا مصروف تھا کہ مجھے یاد ہی نہیں رہا کہ میں گدھے پر بیٹھا ہوا ہوں۔”

یہ سن کر آس پاس کے لوگ بھی ہنسنے لگے۔

ایک دن ایک بہت امیر آدمی نے ملا نصرالدین کو درخت کے نیچے بیٹھا دیکھا۔ امیر آدمی ہنسا اور بولا:
“ملا! میرے پاس اتنا مال ہے۔ کیا تم بتا سکتے ہو کہ میرے پاس کتنے سکے ہیں؟”
ملا مسکرائے اور بولے:
“کیوں بتاؤں؟ تمہارے دل کو پہلے ہی پتا ہے، اور یہ سکوں سے زیادہ اہم ہے۔”
امیر آدمی حیران ہو کر بولا:
“لیکن تم ایک مزے دار اندازہ نہیں لگا سکتے؟”
