Here’s your reminder:

You do NOT have to understand everything the second you log in.

Start with one thing.

What’s the actual problem?

Where in the PB process is it happening?

What is Epic doing vs. what SHOULD it be doing?

Then follow the breadcrumbs.

That’s it.

Experienced analysts aren’t opening their laptops tomorrow magically knowing the answer to every ticket.

They’ve just gotten better at figuring out what question to ask next.

So enjoy the rest of your long weekend.

Friendly reminder for my fellow Epic analysts this Labor Day weekend:

That ticket can wait. 😂

You do NOT need to spend your day off thinking about the issue you couldn’t figure out Friday.

You don’t need to mentally troubleshoot it while you’re making dinner.

And you definitely don’t need to open Hyperspace “just for a second.” 👀

One thing I’ve had to learn in this career is that being a good analyst doesn’t mean carrying every unresolved problem around with you.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is log off, live your actual life, and come back with a fresh brain.

The workqueue will still be there Tuesday. 😂

I’ve been asked by quite a few people now, How do I actually become an Epic analyst?

As far as I know , it still works like this…. In order to get your Epic Certification, you must be sponsored by a healthcare organization. Whether that’s an internal transfer, as was my situation- I started out as a call center representative, moved laterally to the claims and follow-up space, and then the IT team sent out an internal hiring email for anyone at the organization wanting to get an Epic certification- or a healthcare organization willing to hire you, brand new, and send you for certification. Either way, you’ve got to have some sort of representation.

Put yourself out there on LinkedIn or indeed or any site like those and get a feel of what’s open. Reach out to the recruiters promoting the epic analyst roles you’re seeing and start conversations about getting certified and if the organizations they are representing are willing to hire folks without existing certifications. I’ve seen a lot of places hire no prior Epic experience individuals, so it IS possible.

And honestly? I used to rely more on memorizing the system than actually understanding it.

Six months ago, I would’ve been embarrassed to say that out loud.

But today… I own it.

For a long time, I felt like a weak analyst. And the truth is… I was.

I slowed down. I spent extra time on tickets.
I focused on understanding the why behind the build…
The downstream impact…
The workflows upstream from billing…

That’s where everything started to click.

I created this channel for anyone who’s felt the same way—

We’re not staying there.
