I'm The Novice Railway Modeller, building my first OO gauge model railway and sharing every step of the journey.
I believe you don't need to be an expert to enjoy this hobby. Here you'll find honest progress, real mistakes and practical lessons as I build my first ever model railway. Whether you're building your first layout, returning to railway modelling after years away or improving an existing railway, you're very welcome here. My aim is to show that progress matters more than perfection, and that every challenge is another opportunity to learn.
Expect layout construction, track laying, DCC wiring, scenery, weathering, realistic railway operations, rolling stock reviews, product comparisons and budget-friendly modelling. I specialise in British-outline diesel and electric railways, sharing practical projects, DIY problem-solving and genuine modelling experiences from someone learning every step of the way.
Learn. Share. Enjoy the journey. š

First time weathering sleepers and track and then ballasting. Made my own colour blend up on the one.

š Just picked up these AK Real Colors markers to weather the sides of my rails before I start ballasting.
As a novice, Iām trying to decide which colour gives the most realistic finish. š¤
Which one do you think looks best? Let me know in the comments below ā your advice will help me decide before I weather the whole layout!

āļø **Summer Modelling Break** āļø Hi everyone! Just a quick update to let you know that I am taking a short summer break.
As many of you know, the loft becomes incredibly hot during the summer months, making it far from ideal for building the layout. Rather than struggle through the heat, I'm going to take a well-earned break and return when the temperatures are much kinder.
š **I'll be back in early September**, refreshed and ready to continue building the railway, with plenty more track laying, wiring, scenery and train running still to come!
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the channel, watched the videos, commented and become a member. Your encouragement really does keep me motivated, and I can't wait to get back into the loft and continue the journey with you.
Have a fantastic summer, and I'll see you all in September! āļøš
