Why do female idols always seem to get the bigger part of the hate when dating rumors happen?

this is something i've honestly thought about for a while.

when a male and female idol are rumored to be dating, somehow the girl often becomes the main target. and i'm not saying male idols don't get hate too, they absolutely do. but the difference in how people treat the female idol can be insane.

look at Jennie. when Taehyung accidentally followed her on Instagram, people were already turning it into a whole dating story, and her comments were filled with hate. it got so bad that even Instagram showed a reminder asking people to be respectful toward Jennie.

and now we've seen similar behavior around Winter too, where dating rumors have dragged even things and people around the idols into the hate. like... why are we reaching that far???

sometimes i think fandoms forget that idols are people before they're idols.

a dating rumor is just a rumor.

you don't have to believe it.
you don't have to like it.
you don't even have to care about it.

but why turn someone's comment section into a battlefield over something that might not even be true?

it's like seeing smoke and immediately deciding there's a fire.

and honestly, i think female idols are often judged more harshly for simply having a private life.

being an idol doesn't mean giving up the right to love, date, make friends, or simply exist without being watched.

MY TAKE: love your idols, support them, enjoy their music but don't treat them like something you own. <3
