Ricco at 7 months old 🥹
UPDATE: I’ve had a lot of responses and decided to do one longer compilation video with various stages of Ricco from first bringing him home as well as having some short videos throughout the month of February to celebrate his birthday 😊

He will be turning 7 years old on February 2nd and have lots of unshared videos of him. Was curious if everyone would like to see Ricco as a baby and if so would you prefer some short videos or a longer compilation of them put together. In the videos he says a lot of words that he know longer says, which I almost forgot about when I was looking back at them. I can’t believe how fast the time has gone. Typically if ringneck parrots do have a large vocabulary, they will stick to favourite words and phrases as they get older. It’s a common thing I’ve seen with many of the IRN’s.

Yes I’m a Boy 🥹
Lately I’ve had a lot of people asking why Ricco doesn’t have a ring around his neck if he’s a boy. He is a pied mutation ringneck parrot. The pied mutations as some people may know come in a dominant and a recessive pied, with Ricco being a recessive pied mutation. The recessive pied has different characteristics such as the light feet, black eyes and the entire beak being fully red, the one major key factor is the males do not develop a ring, so a DNA test will be required. In order to produce a recessive pied ringneck parrot, both parents must carry the gene.
If a bird was not born with the pied mutation, for example yellow and green or blue and white feathers, chances are your bird is not a pied mutation and may have a vitamin deficiency or liver disease.
