Hi, I'm Johanna from the faraway Nordic country of Finland, but six years ago I embarked on an adventure of a lifetime and moved to India for love. Now, I live in a small village in Kerala with my husband and our little daughter Annika. Here we are finding joy in simple, slow and quiet family life and exploring each other’s cultures and countries.
I started this Youtube journey to collect and record the endless stream of memories of our life. In words, and images. So that's what you'll find here - stories of life, family, food and travels from India. Our real life, nothing too epic, really.

Hello everyone after a long time! 🙏 There’s a good reason why I’ve not been able to be active on my social media in recent months, being busy with a new degree programme I’m doing and brewing a new life inside me…
We welcomed a strong and healthy baby boy, Lasse Alvar, into our family earlier this week. Alvar has dark hair, a cute button nose, an intelligent look in his eyes and looks a lot like his big sister at the same age.
Alvar inherits the name Lasse, which means victory and glory, in honour of his Finnish roots and both my father and grandfather who he’ll unfortunately never get to meet. Alvar on the other hand means a fairy warrior in Finnish tradition and in Hinduism means the tamili poet-saints immersed in god.
Born at the best time of the year, whether you look at it from Finland (midsummer) or India (monsoon), Alvar is already bringing a lot of joy and light into our life, especially for his big didi Annika who takes her sisterly duties seriously with so much love and care.

Christmas greetings from our family to yours! We’ve had a wonderful Christmas filled with laughter, joy, peace and of course good food and gifts. And even though we didn’t get to spend it in Finland as originally planned, it was as Finnish as possible here in Mumbai without any major stress meltdowns. The most important thing was that we were all together ❤️

Sending good Sunday vibes to all with these few recent Sunday photos of saree styling, street food and Annika’s playtime! ☺️
Today’s video of our last Christmas in Kerala might not be exactly what you’re craving for in this summer heat, but Annika was just too cute and chatty in all the footage of our celebrations for me to not make a whole Christmas video, but just include it as a small part of our goodbyes to Kerala. That emotional video will be coming next, but here’s the link to the Christmas vlog:

Sorry that new videos are still coming out slowly, but in our current situation it just keeps being super challenging to find enough time for my video work! If not before, at least by mid-June there should be a change in that 😊 Thanks for understanding and do watch and support the videos meanwhile too 🙏

Namaste my friends 🙏
So sorry that posting of this new video got delayed again with other urgent issues to deal with. I really miss working on my videos and connecting with you more frequently. But here this video finally is for some slow, easy Sunday vibes 😌
For some reason YouTube keeps turning off the commenting, so even though all seems to be OK at the moment, if you’re not able to leave a comment and your feedback on the video itself, please do write me something on this post at least. Because seriously what’s even the point of sharing these videos if I won’t get to read your thoughts about them!? 💔

Happy Sunday everyone!
I’m sorry I didn’t get to post a new video today. This week has again been challenging and busy with life happening and all, and don’t even get me started on the heatwave of the past few days. I’ve been barely functional enough to deal with even just the absolute daily necessities 🫠
I just wanted to say sorry, let you know that I’ll be posting a new video next weekend and a short before that, and also share these photos of our easy, breezy Sunday by the sea cooling down and gathering chill energy until the next heat wave hits!
See you soon 🙏

Hello everyone!
I just posted a new video yesterday about our family vacation to Goa in November with my mom and Annika. I'm still working on a couple of videos (one more Goa vlog and our goodbye to Kerala video) before I get to posting content about our move to Mumbai.
I plan to start the Mumbai vlogs with a life update Q&A video and want to film it this week, so please send me your questions in this post. Ask me pretty much anything and I'll try to reply to everyone in the Q&A! :)

Our little big girl (Annika doesn’t like being called little anymore…) turned 3!
This was the first birthday that she really understood what birthdays are and was really excited about hers. So I felt a little bad, but after the recent major life change of relocating to Mumbai and the challenges that’ve come with it, amidst all the chaos of settling into a new house, I didn’t have the time or energy to put together a big, fancy party for Annika. But to do at least something, I quickly shoved all the chaos away into cupboards and under the beds and decorated the cleanest corner of the house with all things pink, floral and butterfly-y, or in other words all of Annika’s favourite things. We had some new friends over on a couple of evenings, cut one pink and one chocolate cake, opened just a few gifts, and sang happy birthday with and to Annika maybe about a million times. And to my relief, Annika was beyond excited and happy with everything, just jumping around, singing and congratulating herself gleefully all birthday week long. Her simple joy was the most endearing thing to watch and I also ended up being happy that we didn’t take on the additional stress of a big party.
I saw a photo on Pinterest of a children’s birthday party with all the animal toys seated around the table for tea and I loved the idea so much for Annika too. While I didn’t want a whole grand, elaborate party, which I sometimes feel is the only thing I see on social media, I did want something pretty, but easy and stress-free. And this was all that, and didn’t take much time or money either. I used maybe 45 minutes on decorating and maybe 3000 rupees on the two cakes from Theobroma and decorations from Amazon (affordable considering Mumbai prices 😬). So if you’re also a mama in need of easy and pretty ideas for kids’ birthdays, feel free to steal this one!

Hello everyone
and happy new year 2024
jai shree ram
happy republic day
and any other special occasion I might have missed in the past month or so 🙏
The past couple of months have been incredibly busy and extremely stressful for us, due to some major life changes we’re still in the middle of dealing with. At this point I don’t have the time or energy to work on video editing, I’ve barely even been filming to be honest, as I already have so much on my plate and on my mind. Hoping to get our situation sorted and settled in the coming weeks and to be able to return to my videos, but I can’t give you guys a definite date of my next video as of now. Sending you guys lots of love with these few quick snaps from the past month ❤️

✨Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!
We’re having a very busy and stressful holiday season this year, so to combat all that, we’re celebrating a low-key, stress-free Christmas at our Kerala home, just enjoying some quieter days and doing pretty much nothing at all together. Annika and I have been doing some Christmas crafts for decorations in the previous weeks, we’ve watched some Christmas cartoons, listened to Christmas music and learned about Santa and his elves. But that’s about it. I haven’t tried to create a perfect, traditional Christmas for Annika this year, but Annika herself has made it perfectly magical with her excitement, by being the most enthusiastic Santa’s and Mama’s little helper, by being beyond happy with just the thought of Christmas … and well just a couple of gifts too.
We’ve been however watching the Finnish Christmas vlog series from two years ago on Annika’s very first Christmas, to add a little sprinkle of that traditional Christmas magic into our holidays. You might enjoy these videos too, if you’ve already watched all my latest videos from my mom’s visit to Kerala 🙏
