Hi, I’m Diane! I’m a Bible teacher and author who loves helping people understand Scripture in its historical, cultural, and Jewish context. If you’re looking for in-depth Bible study that goes beyond a surface reading, you’re in the right place. We explore the first-century Jewish world of Yeshua and the apostles, Hebrew and Greek word studies, biblical history, theology, and the details we often miss when reading Scripture through modern eyes. 👀
You’ll find Bible study videos, verse-by-verse teaching, deep dives into difficult Bible passages, Bible study tips, and practical help learning how to study the Bible for yourself. If you love studying Scripture, asking good questions, and discovering what’s beneath the surface of familiar passages, subscribe and come study with me.
And fair warning: we may look up the Hebrew. We’re probably going to look up the Hebrew. 😂

📖 Hebrew Word Drop: חֵפֶץ
The word chefetz can mean delight, pleasure, desire, or purpose, depending on the context.
In Psalm 1:2 we get cheftzo, "his delight." This is describing a person who delights in the Torah (instruction) of the LORD. GOD's instruction is something he actually enjoys! He goes back to it time and time again and thinks about it day and night. He can’t get enough of it.
Apparently nobody told him Torah was supposed to be unbearable. Go figure. 😂
Nobody is making him do it. He WANTS to be there!
Most of us can talk about a television show or a movie for an hour, picking apart every character's terrible decisions. Ten minutes in the Bible takes a pep talk and a concerning amount of willpower.
And yes… I have met me!
It's ok if you read a passage and think, "Well. I have absolutely no idea what that means." That's a start, and it counts! You don’t have to understand everything to delight in it. I delight in my husband and I don’t understand him half all the time!!
The more time you spend in Scripture, the more familiar it will get. You start to notice words that repeat in a passage, pick up cultural details maybe you missed before. And as you read more, you’ll find a passage that confused you makes sense, and you look up and you're three chapters past where you thought you’d stop!
Not every passage is easy, and I'm not going to pretend Leviticus is a joy for me every time it comes up in the reading plan. GOD isn't fooled! 👀
Keep reading anyway. That's how the psalmist got to the point where he could honestly say he delighted in it.
