Why Did People Start Calling Me The UK Chilli Queen?
It all started by accident many years ago! I entered a Chilli-Eating Challenge in Kingston-Upon-Thames, won it, and here I am many victories later! I love hot food and enjoy the delectable piquancy that a chilli adds to a portion of food...but no way do I have any special superhuman powers or high tolerance to pain! These chillies wound me just like they do most people. The nerves set in days in advance and I dread each and every competition but I just can't give up when it comes to a chilli challenge!

It was pretty wonderful to be interviewed for the prestigious Cloud luxury lifestyle magazine by Air Charter Service. Cloud is aimed at private jet travellers, with a readership made up of ultra-high-net-worth individuals - think celebrities, sports stars, business leaders, crypto billionaires and the like!
The feature focused on the phenomenal growth of the global hot sauce market, and I was fortunate enough to contribute a few thoughts. This came from a great conversation with the brilliant journalist, writer and broadcaster Arwa Haider, who regularly writes for the BBC, the Financial Times, New Scientist and many other highly respected publications. We really bonded over our shared love of all things spicy. 🌶️
It all felt rather surreal. I even managed to get a mention in for the UK-based hot sauce company @The Chilli Project.
Great to see @Lazy Scientist feature as well.
Now we just need one of those billionaires reading the magazine to decide they want to fund the next stage of League of Fire! 😆
Life is funny. You never quite know what's around the corner. If someone had told me a few years ago that I'd have a few lines published in such a high-class magazine read by some of the wealthiest people in the world, I wouldn't have believed them for a second. One minute you're chewing superhots on a festival stage, the next you're being quoted in a magazine read by billionaires. Life is wonderfully strange. 🌶️✈️🔥

For me, it would have to be about my journey through the world of chilli peppers.
From taking that first nervous bite as a competitor, to becoming the UK Chilli Queen, and then helping to build a worldwide competitive chilli-eating sport through League of Fire and organising globally recognised competitions.
It would be a story of victories and setbacks, lessons learned, incredible people met along the way, adventures across the world, and umpteen TV, radio and media appearances that all came from taking that very first competitive bite of a chilli pepper.
More than anything, it would be about personal growth - how the journey has shaped me, challenged me, tested my resilience, and helped me become the person I am today.
There have been plenty of moments when I felt like giving up, but there have been even more moments that inspired me to stay true to my dreams and keep pushing forward. 🌶️❤️

Soft shell crab burger at Green Choy in Tooting Market.
This was superb. The crab was coated in a light, golden tempura batter that delivered the perfect crunch, while the fresh Asian slaw and crisp lettuce added a lovely balance and freshness. The spicy kimchi mayo tied everything together beautifully, bringing just the right amount of heat and flavour.
Served in a perfectly toasted bun, every bite was packed with crunch, texture, and rich umami goodness. If you're a seafood lover, this one is definitely worth trying. 😍
