This is the official Youtube page for the Right to the City Alliance.
Right to the City (RTTC) emerged in 2007 as a unified response to gentrification and a call to halt the displacement of low-income people, people of color, marginalized LGBTQ communities, and youths of color from their historic urban neighborhoods. We are a national alliance of racial, economic and environmental justice organizations.
Through shared principles and a common frame and theory of change, RTTC is building a national movement for racial justice, urban justice, human rights, and democracy.

On November 1st, SNAP benefits will be cut for 42 million Americans–families already squeezed by skyrocketing rents, inflation, and the rising cost of essentials. With housing costs soaring and groceries more expensive than ever, this decision threatens to push vulnerable families into impossible choices—between paying rent or putting food on the table.
The reality is, within the first two weeks, about 80% of SNAP benefits are already spent, and nearly 97% are gone by month’s end. These benefits are a vital economic lifeline, keeping local grocery stores open, stabilizing communities and strengthening our economy. When SNAP is cut, the ripple effects extend far beyond individual families, deepening poverty and weakening local economies everywhere.
It’s clear that the government has a crucial role to play in addressing the intertwined issues of inflation, housing affordability, and economic inequality. At a time when costs keep climbing, government should be expanding–not shrinking–the safety net for American families. A fair economy isn’t one where families are forced to choose between a roof over their heads and food on the table—it’s one where government steps up to ensure everyone’s basic needs are met. We must demand leadership that puts people first and builds a future where no one is left behind.
