Hey, I’m Chris Loud—an intuitive abstract and mixed-media painter working mostly in acrylics. This channel is all about the process of painting: loosening up, trusting your instincts, and building dynamic abstract paintings without overthinking every mark.
You’ll find short painting demos, 10–20 minute warm-up exercises, creative prompts, and composition ideas you can use right away. We often work with limited color palettes, simple tools, and time limits to spark creativity and build confidence. The focus is on intuitive abstract painting, abstract landscapes, layering, mark-making, and discovering strong compositions inside spontaneous work.
My goal isn’t perfection—it’s momentum. Expect quick experiments, loose marks, unexpected discoveries, and ideas you can adapt to your own style.

I've been slowly adding a few more original paintings to my Etsy shop over the past week.
Some of these are brand new, while a couple have been sitting in the studio for a year or two, patiently waiting for their turn. 😊 It always feels good to finally get them photographed and listed.

I'm on vacation this week, but I never stop collecting inspiration.
Whenever I travel, I take way too many photos of rocks, textures, colors, clouds, and interesting shapes. They almost always find their way into a painting later—even if it's months from now.

Do you feel there is a more interesting and/or balanced orientation for this painting or are the all about the same?

A little mix of old and new this week.
I finally listed a couple of landscapes I painted years ago, along with some newer abstract and mixed media work. I don't paint landscapes very often anymore, so it felt like a good time to let these find a new home.
If you're curious, they're now in my Etsy shop www.etsy.com/shop/ChrisLoudArt . 😊

I definitely have a favorite orientation for this one, but I'm curious... which way would you hang it?

Daily art habit check-in✅
These are a few quick warm-ups from old book pages — nothing fancy, just 5–10 minutes of showing up and seeing what happens. Three of these are quick pieces based on pictures or paintings.

Just added five new paintings to Etsy — "Some Assembly Required," "Megalohydrothalassophobia" (yes, that's a real word — look it up 😄), "Undercover, No. 1," "It Only Took My Breath Away," and "Golden Afternoon." www.etsy.com/shop/ChrisLoudArt

I did something a little different this week and sat down with 719Style for an interview about art, process, and the fun path of making things.

I just pulled out a few old mixed media pieces that I never finished.
Which one should I work on first?

I’ve been playing with a 👉 QUICK 👈 daily exercise: paint on an old book page for 5–10 minutes and stop before overthinking takes over.
It’s simple, low-pressure, and surprisingly helpful.
Which one would you build on?
