I believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, the final standard for faith and life.

I believe in the one true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who is sovereign over all things.

I affirm the Five Solas: Scripture Alone, Christ Alone, Grace Alone, Faith Alone, and Glory to God Alone, holding that salvation is entirely God’s work through Jesus Christ.

I believe in believer’s baptism as a public declaration of faith and in the Lord’s Supper as a memorial given by Christ to remember His sacrifice.

I believe the church is the body of Christ and is faithfully expressed in simple, home-based gatherings devoted to Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and family discipleship.

I believe Jesus Christ will return bodily to judge the world, raise the dead, and establish His eternal kingdom.

These often lead to the richest discussions.

3. Look for connections to earlier chapters.
How does John 19 complete or fulfill things Jesus has been saying throughout the Gospel?

4. Reflect on the emotional and spiritual weight of the chapter.
What does this chapter reveal to you personally about God’s love?
About Jesus’ obedience?
About sacrifice?

5. I encourage you to read Isaiah 53 alongside it.
It adds powerful context to the events of John 19.

A Closer Look at Daniel’s 70 Weeks

Daniel’s 70 Weeks prophecy (Daniel 9:24–27) is one of the most precise and beautiful demonstrations of God’s sovereignty over history.

The “70 weeks” represent 490 years that lead from the restoration of Jerusalem to the arrival of the Messiah and the end of the Old Covenant age. Unlike many modern interpretations, there’s nothing in the text that inserts a 2,000-year gap between the 69th and 70th week. The prophecy unfolds continuously, pointing straight to Jesus and the events surrounding His generation.

Here’s the flow:

• Weeks 1–69:
From the decree to rebuild Jerusalem → leading to the appearance of Jesus, the Messiah. The timeline fits perfectly with the coming of Christ in the first century.

• The 70th Week:
This is the period of Jesus’ earthly ministry. He “confirms the covenant” with His blood, fulfills the law and the prophets, brings an end to sacrifice (by rendering the old system obsolete), and inaugurates the New Covenant.

• After the 70th Week:
The prophecy speaks of the destruction of “the city and the sanctuary.”
This was fulfilled in AD 70 when Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple—exactly as Jesus warned in Matthew 24 and Luke 21.

Daniel’s timeline leads us directly to Christ’s redemptive work and the closing of the Old Covenant era. It’s not pointing us toward a future tribulation or a rebuilt temple—it’s pointing to the faithfulness of God in the first century and the arrival of the Kingdom Jesus proclaimed.
