Author event incoming! 🤎

Hopefully you guys already know this, but Written in Melanin was created with a singular purpose in mind — to support Black authors.

To that end, we've organized what we're calling the Author Roundtable. Think of it as a virtual author conference with one panel at a time. The goal is to bring together experienced Black authors with expertise in various areas to have an open discussion about the realities of being a Black creative.

The first panel we're hosting is: How to Market a Book in a Recession.

We all live in this current economy and know what effects it's had on everyone, especially marginalized communities. So, where does that leave Black authors who make their money selling entertainment? That's what this roundtable is coming together to discuss.

The Author Roundtable is for authors looking for answers and a new perspective; readers looking for insight and how they can support; and everyone looking for community and a safe space.

The live discussion will happen on December 3, 2025, in the Written in Melanin discord server and streaming live for members only, here on YouTube. Five bucks gets you in and members will get a chance to watch the conversation live, ask their own questions, engage in the discussion, and chat with each other in real time.

Not a member and no funds to join? That's cool too! The cut and edited version will be posted to the channel in January.

We're out running errands and while Ben drives us around I'm getting into Outdrawn. It's easy to fall into, that's for sure. I love that the character voices are so distinct from each other.
