On 26th November 2025, the University Sports Pavilion will come alive as we gather to celebrate the exceptional achievements of the Class of 2025.
This year’s ceremony is guided by the inspiring theme: “Shaping a Sustainable World through Technology and Environmental Transformation.”
From early mornings in classrooms and late nights in the library to innovations, resilience, and academic excellence, our graduands have earned this moment.
As we get closer to the big day, we invite parents, guardians, friends, partners, and the entire community to join us in honoring these scholarly milestones.

We proudly congratulate our Vice-Chancellor & CEO, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, on being declared a National Hero today, 20th October 2025, by The National Heroes Council in recognition of his outstanding contributions to environmental conservation.
This prestigious honor follows a rigorous evaluation and public consultation process, highlighting Prof. Muriungi’s transformative leadership and unwavering commitment to sustainability.
Under his stewardship:
- Over 40,000 trees have been planted and sustained at Tharaka University’s main campus.
- More than 30,000 tree seedlings are donated annually to support local community greening initiatives.
- A material recovery facility has been established to combat plastic pollution, driving the transition toward a cleaner, greener future.
The Tharaka University community takes immense pride in Prof. Muriungi’s visionary leadership, which continues to inspire national and global action for a sustainable planet.
Tharaka University (TUN) Vice-Chancellor and CEO, Prof. Peter K. Muriungi, today had the honor of hosting Mr. Shadrack Mwadime, the Principal Secretary (PS), State Department of Labour and Skills Development, who paid a courtesy call to his office ahead of the Employment Summit hosted at the University.
The summit, organized by Mr. Paul Mugambi, Patron of the Community First Initiative, brought together hundreds of youths from across Tharaka Nithi county for an engaging session on how to access job opportunities globally.
During the courtesy call, discussions centered on strengthening collaborations between Tharaka University and the State Department of Labour and Skills Development in promoting skills training, entrepreneurship, and employability among university students and graduates.
Prof. Muriungi reaffirmed Tharaka University’s commitment to equipping learners with practical skills aligned with the job market and the national development agenda, emphasizing the institution’s role in shaping a competent, innovative, and self-reliant workforce.
The Employment Summit underscored Tharaka University’s continued dedication to creating platforms that empower young people and connect them with opportunities for growth and meaningful employment.
