Hey guys… I just realized I made a HUGE mistake on my monetization journey. I reccomend you give this a read if you’re interested in making money on YouTube: ⬇️

🍁 As some of you know, I’ve been slowly working towards getting monetized (making $$$ off of my content) so that I can give back to my community. To get monetized on YouTube, you either need millions of shorts views in a 3 month period—or to have over 3000 public watch hours within the past year. Arguably, it seems a LOT easier to consistently get watch hours than get lucky and have a video pop off…
What I didn’t realize for the last couple of months that I’m just learning now? Watch hours from shorts DONT count towards monetization! 😬

🫠 If shorts watch hours counted? I’d be about one month away from becoming a YouTube partner and monetized account. [see photo 2]

So… where does this put me?
- A: Start uploading more, shorter videos, edits, content (etc) and hope something goes viral enough to put me over the monetization threshold
- B: Start building long-form content (videos) and slowly build watch hours

And I think I’m more interested in playing the long game.

👋 So, this is where I need to ask you all a favor. PLEASE let me know in the comments: would you watch and engage with non-shorts content on my page? Not only watching scene packs and twixtors (which I am starting to produce) but actual content? I think I have the ability to produce funny, interesting, and helpful videos, but if it’s not something my community will interact with, I worry that it’s not going to be worth the effort.

From one creator to another, thank you all for being a part of my community, and I appreciate everyone who watches all of my videos. Liking, subscribing, sharing, and especially watching all of my videos from start to finish helps me tremendously in trying to grow my channel. ❤️‍🩹

If you have any questions about how I built my channel to its current status, or really anything else, please let me know—id love to answer!
