Hey everyone — Wanted to give an important update on the future of memberships!
As some of you know, the channel has had both YouTube and Patreon memberships as ways to support me. But what I only just found out recently was how much YouTube actually takes from those memberships compared to Patreon, They take 30% over Patreon's 8%, and then sometimes Apple and or other mobile device companies take an extra 30% at checkout.
That hit me hard, because the fact that people even consider supporting me at all is such a massive honour, and knowing that most of what you give doesn’t even reach me felt really wrong.
So I sat down and looked at the best options, and I’ve decided that Patreon is now going to be the main way to support the channel. Patreon lets me keep 92% of your support, meaning more of your generosity goes straight into the content I make here on Retro Renew.
So, here’s what’s changing:
🟢 YouTube Members (Retro Enthusiast & Retro King Tiers) If you joined one of these tiers this month, you’ll be fully reimbursed. You’ll just need to join on Patreon instead if you'd like to keep getting all the perks.
🔴 YouTube Members (Retro Supporter Tier) I’m keeping this tier around, but it’s now badge-only. That means you'll keep your loyalty badge next to your name in comments and chat, but you won’t receive any other perks going forward.
🤝 Transition Period To say sorry for the sudden change, I’ll continue giving everyone full perks until the end of April. After that, all perks (early access, exclusive content, Discord roles, etc.) will only be available through Patreon.
🤷 What makes this a good thing?: Well besides the already mentioned points; there’s no price increase and you’re not getting any fewer benefits. It’s purely a platform switch so that you’re actually supporting me.
Honestly, being in a position to even talk about people wanting to support me at all is something I’ll never take for granted. Thank you to everyone who’s backed the channel, whether it’s financially or just watching and enjoying the videos ❤️

How do feel about a Twin Snakes video? I was thinking an exploration into the strange entry with a little best way to play type thing towards the end going over how to get it looking great in dolphin!
Just incase anyone else wonders why the MGS1 video was private for a bit. Someone from the Discord pointed out there was a black screen at a certain point in the video that I missed so I had to re-render and upload a fixed version.
Good news! MGS1 Video is complete! This project runs 26 minutes, the longest BWTP to date!
But here's the bad news:
It's kind of stuck here until I hear back from Instant Gaming about the AD placement which sadly means I'm going to have to let it sit here until I get that sorted which might not be until next week (hopefully as early as Monday).
I'll update you all as soon as I can here! love you guys, sorry about the wait, huh
Would you want the Best Way to Play series to expand to covering more than just what's playable on PC? e.g. playing on original hardware (PS2, GameCube etc)
Also if you haven't guessed it already, here's a hint at the next game on the series: The greatest gun ever created. The Colt Single Action Army.

I feel like MGS2 is without a doubt played best on PC via the master collection with mods
