"I was 14, and I was embarrassed."

That’s what Heaven told us when we began filming her story with the incredible team at Path2Freedom. Like many of the girls they serve, she was significantly behind academically, testing at a fourth-grade level. The feeling of being left behind was a heavy weight.


This is one of the core challenges that Path2Freedom tackles. The journey for survivors of trafficking isn't just about finding safety; it's about rediscovering a future that feels stolen. It's a journey that's nearly impossible to walk alone.


But Heaven wasn't alone. As one of their staff, Rosie, explained, their approach isn't about pushing. It's about healing. They let the new girls decompress, regulate, and then begin gently helping "fill the educational gaps."


For Heaven, this meant starting with simple steps, reading books, and writing notes. It was a path built on patience and understanding, not pressure. It was this compassionate environment that allowed her to find her footing and her faith, holding onto Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."


Today, Heaven is thriving. She has a job, she has friends, and she's preparing for her future with confidence. The girl who was once embarrassed by her reading level is now a beacon of hope. In her own words, Heaven’s dream is to "be a helping person... to bring that light upon others."


Her story is a powerful reminder that remarkable work is being done every single day by people fueled by passion and purpose. The team at Path2Freedom is on the front lines, creating the space for these transformations to happen.
