Katogo is a Ugandan dish which is made by a combination of varieties of foods & sauces in one pot.
Katogo is basically a mixture of food & sauce. It can be made by a mixture of cassava chopped in small peices mixed with beans as shown in the first picture.
In the second picture, a plate of katogo mixture of banana & offal while on the 4th plate is katogo from bananas & ground nut paste. The last picture is katogo made by a mixture of bananas & meat.
There is no standard recipe of katogo, therefore the mixture depends on the extent of the creativity of someone preparing it. Other examples of katogo dishes include yam & beans, cassava & ground nut paste etc
This meal (katogo) can be served for breakfast or as a main meal for the day and many Ugandans love it 😋

Uganda is popular for the abundance of food supply. In focus today is "Bananas" also locally known as matooke.
Matoke are a staple food crop in Uganda , Kenya, Tanzania and other Great Lakes countries. The fruit is harvested green, carefully peeled, and then cooked and often mashed or pounded into a meal. In Uganda and Rwanda, the fruit is steam-cooked, and the mashed meal is considered a national dish in both countries.
East African Highland bananas were introduced early into Africa from Southeast Asia during the first to sixth centuries AD, probably via trade. They are genetically distinct from the other AAA cultivars, having evolved locally in the African Great Lakes region for over a millennium. They are found nowhere else in the world, and the African Great Lakes has been called the secondary center of banana diversity because of this (with Southeast Asia being the first). East African Highland bananas are considered to be especially diverse in Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda.
