My friends, sorry for the lack of uploads - almost a month with no new videos and it feels like it wasn't even a week. Been VERY busy with work stuff lately since this end-of-year season is when we get the most movement and I simply don't have the time and energy. I'm exhausted. That, and I've been hit hard with a cold this week - barely recovering now, barely... but as soon as I have the time, things will go up again. Lots of great stuff in the backlog, and I have been getting some great stuff lately too, so stay tuned. We'll have a few specials for the coming Christmas and New Years days, promise!

Not much to be noted this time, just a little memo so it doesn't just pass by, but it has been 7 years since I've started posting on this channel. Feels like I uploaded that video of that pair of Atlas C32 escalators last week... and it's suddenly more than half of a decade. A lot has happened since then, and it's good to see the impact this all had even if it's not a lot.
Thanks to all of you who make it all possible, each viewer, each supporter, subscriber, the friends made throughout this time... might not seem like much but this is the mission, the challenge I accepted: documenting and preserving the history of vertical transportation here and beyond, as much as possible, for as long as I'm able. It's not easy, there's ups and downs (literally and figuratively), but I'm not giving up.
On to the next 7!

Thank you all.

Can't let it pass by, since today, August 3, is the birthday of the one and only Elisha Otis, one of, if not the man who made all of this possible. Inventor of the safety speed governor that made elevators safe in case of a fall, and namesake of the elevator company we all know.
World would be a much different place if not for him... and I wouldn't have this channel, or even my passion for working and documenting these machines.
Happy 214th Mr. Otis!

And just 2 days later, on the 5th, I'm the one counting another birthday as well.
So to celebrate both together, this time with a real banger - we're having a very, more than, and beyond special video coming up, one of the highlights of my elevator filming journey. Stay tuned - tomorrow, on the 4th, between both of these days.

Leave your guesses from this nameplate... And for those who might recognize it - yes. Yes it is what you're thinking.

(I had not been feeling so well for the last week - editing this is taking a while. Will come out soon!)

I'm sorry to inform you, but I'm giving a pause with the uploads for a while now. Just had to deal with the sudden passing of a very close friend and I'm beyond devastated.

I do have a good backlog to upload, I'm just not feeling any strength to do it or anything really currently. Not sure when I'll be coming back. Sorry to keep you waiting.

Take care.

Hello viewers! It's nice to be able to write this update to you, finally.

Some of you have seen that I've been away for a while now, and yes, both because of bad and good reasons. While the last few months were horrid in terms of getting new content for this channel, that has taken a turn, and you are about to see a lot of new, great and very valuable content coming up in the next months! If this image tells you anything, it is stuff to be hyped up. We got a lot of rare, never before filmed equipment recently... and it was one experience! Not only just elevators and escalators either. For those who have seen it on his channel before, probably know what this is about. Check Mr.  @rafaelrigoelevadores2417  channel if you want a clue... But I'll let you get in on as it goes. Big step for our small but enduring elevator community. Together, we're making progress.

As always, thank you all for your support, viewership and interest in preserving and valuing the history of vertical transportation in this country.

Stay tuned for the new videos coming out through the next months! Get your expectations high up there...

Hey people, first of all, thank you for your views and support to my channel, you know I don't get much from this whole thing, so it's a nice plus having you here. Not a lot but I care for it anyway.

So this is an update about my channel and situation currently... and how things will be going for a while here. Sort of an off my chest too, things aren't going too smoothly and I can't just have it all held up, so you'll have a bit of rambling here and there.

You might have noticed that my post frequency is really low, and I know it. That has to do with a lot of things.
First, my current schedule, work is taking a lot of time and energy from me and I'm usually left with not much of those to take care of this channel. Editing and writing these videos takes an effort and a lot of time. When I can, I always do it. I have a lot of other stuff in my life that also takes lots of time and energy to do as well. It's crazy keeping balance of this all, sometimes I have to sacrifice some of it and YouTube is generally the one I have to cut off when I need.
Second, a lack of videos to post, and I'm having to go on "contingency" mode for a while, unfortunately. That's why I'm saving some videos for later and posting a lot less - better to have big gaps between new videos than to leave this plainly inactive for weeks, months. Would be different if I hadn't lost over 70 videos I filmed last year thanks to this Samsung phone softlocking on me with all my personal, work and life stuff in it, lost it all and have been having to pick up the pieces after that (kills me every time I have to remember that...). I haven't had time to deal with getting a comeback at those bastards, but when I do, you'll get updates here. Hope this is a lost war but at least a battle I can win.
Two tips: Don't ever buy a Samsung phone and just backup all of your stuff no matter what.

Now, about getting material for this channel, I am filming a reasonable number of content since then up to recently, not a lot but it isn't zero either. It's been harder and harder to get into these elevators currently. To make it worse, a recent run-in with a horrible "person" that unfortunately happens to be the manager of a building I tried filming has done massive damage to my will of going out and trying to film new places. Plus the forecast for the next months... isn't good, a few dynamics have changed that probably will make it even harder for me to get videos for now... there's only a bit of hope in some things I'm trying out, but nothing guaranteed. Another thing I have to do is buying some filming related equipment, for example, a bigger capacity SD card (before anything, f*ck cloud storage), getting my driver's license and car, saving some money I'm earning at work...
And as for posting videos, many that I've been filming recently can't be uploaded to the internet, at least for now, probably in a later future. I can't disclose much about why or how that is, so that's where it stays. Hopefully in the future you can at least see some of those! But for now... no clearance.
What you'll be seeing are very few videos that are few unpublished ones from my backlog, some that I can just upload right away with no issues, or, if I get clearance for some I've been filming.
So for now, just in mind about this channel - not a lot of videos coming out for a while.

Now on the good side - there are a few things that will hopefully fold out well for me in the coming months that will at least help me to get back better with the channel. Can't tell much about that either, but those probably mean that maybe, this is a year I can structure some things out for the future, including the channel. As soon as some of those go well, I'll post it here.
I plan to try out some different content in the next months for the period I can't post much, and see how it goes.

2025 might probably not be a year I'll be filming lots of new videos with ease as the first half of 2024 was (and it all got wasted), but probably will be a year of setting things right in the backstage for this channel while it sits on a backburner. Or pre-heat, I don't know. So that maybe then the next years fold out as I want for it - my dream of being more than just a pioneer here, a prolific filmer. Samsung, ass-faced managers, concierges and else might always try to cut that short but I tell you, I'm not giving up even with how awful and hard things get sometimes. And we'll see it in the future, year flashes before your eyes as soon as you notice... and hey, if this turns out to be more than just that too, even better.

So again, thanks a lot for all your support. I haven't been feeling well ever since the tragedy that was losing my videos in that dreadful July 4, 2024, it comes to haunt me every single day, it's been driving me crazy and sucking the life outta me... some things have worked out good, others terribly since then... I still feel bad about it every single day... but what keeps me going is the hope that things work out for the best in the future, a day I can finally get to say "things are now even better than before that tragedy!".
Looking forward to the days I will come here to bring you good news I can be proud of - getting a good backlog, partnerships, and the else. Becoming a reference at this endeavor I set for my life, is what drives me and makes me truly happy.

And until that day, I'll keep hoping that everything turns out the best way possible. You never know how tomorrow will do for you.

Many thanks to you all, and stay tuned.
- LN

Today, January 10, marks the 107th anniversary of the founding of Pirie, Villares & Cia., the company which would later evolve into the Villares Group and of course, Elevadores Atlas.
Good opportunity to show some recently found print ads from them. Credit to Lucca on our group chat who searched and found these.

And what a better way to celebrate than watching 2 videos showcasing some of their most iconic equipment from the golden years:
A perfect example of an epic, original classic Atlas...

Hey people, unfortunately I have to announce some very sad news for my audience. Long long text, I know not many will care or read but I'm writing this to at least put it off and try to chill.
TLDR at the bottom to summarize it.

WHAT HAPPENED
A few days ago, my phone, Samsung Galaxy A54 with only 7 months of use that never presented anything out of the normal until then, unexpectedly presented an issue out of nowhere while I was at work. It asked for my PIN code for unlocking, but for some reason it just wasn't accepting the correct code I was typing. As I tried inputing it some more times, disaster, catastrophe, the worse that could, happened: it permanently bricked itself. The worse thing is, there is NO WAY AT ALL TO RECOVER IT. It practically "sew-icides" itself, becomes a brick, high-tech paper weight, there's nothing you can do other than see a screen with the info about it written. The only way to revert that is through a hard reset, and that means, wipes out all data and archives on it's memory, reboots to factory settings as if it's never been used. That's what I had to do, I can't afford to be without a phone since it's my work tool.
All of my channel's videos are filmed and stored in my phone, so it's a big deal if anything happens to it.

Among those and pertaining to this channel, over 30 to 40 unpublished elevator and escalator videos were permanently lost. All filmed between December 2023 to June 2024. All lost. Lost lost lost. Forever. You know how much I valued those and how desolate I feel having to face that they are all... gone.
Some of those were single-time opportunities so it's unlikely I might get to re-film them, some are in private/non-public locations, some have tough security - many of those were very interesting equipment that I was eager to showcase on this channel, and I loved watching those by myself. So much of a hard work. Some do know and some don't, how absurdly hard it is for me to get some of these videos. You don't know how awful I've been feeling over this whole situation for the last few days. And the data I had in it was important. Screwed me over with work stuff in almost all ways possible.
Currently as of publishing this community post, I am working on re-setting the defective phone back up and importing some other saved stuff I had back into it. Whole process will take a few days for me, and it's rather painstaking. But I'll have to do it anyway, so, too bad.

I still have some older videos which were not lost and were on the backlog line anyway, so they'll hold it for some time. Content output is not at risk for now.
I will be taking a small break of a few weeks for now until I can at least recover a bit more from this situation. It has been exhausting me mentally. Couple that with a few work and financial issues I was already dealing with before this.

So yeah. Phone presents an issue by itself outta nowhere and suddenly I lose almost everything I had on it, months of work. Terrifying that this can happen as it did - and I'm warning you about it so you can be aware to not go through this!

ON THE GOOD SIDE:
All but 2 of these lost videos were filmed in my home city, so getting back to them is uhh... should be easier since I live here. Managing to be allowed to enter them again is the difficult part. Will take some effort and depends on the good will of some of the staff of some of those buildings, but there's hope.
Of the 2 that weren't in my home city, they were in family's city where I go regularly, and I think it will be easy to get back to where they are located. Not a big loss there, at least.
And it could've been even worse - I was going to film in a lot more places here and also travel to other cities to film. For many reasons I haven't done that yet, and those would be A LOT MORE videos I could've lost. Imagine if I had been to that much more and lost them too! Maybe it was for the better that I couldn't get to those eariler.

NOT THE FIRST TIME
Not my first time this same situation happens too - in June 2021 a Galaxy A71 I was using for about 9 months, suddenly turned off went into an endless bootloop during the night. I lost everything I had on it too. Slightly different cause but same result. And eerily similar how much this second time coincided with the first in a lot of things. Maybe the Galaxies are conspiring against elevator videos, who knows. Pertaining to my channel, there were over 100+ lost videos on that phone and they weren't backed up either (I didn't even have a PC at the time). I managed to get back to some of those but the refilms just aren't the same thing... Not to mention the ones I couldn't get back by any means. There was no way to recover anything in that too, only way out was to hard reset it and... get on with life.

SO BE WARNED:
And an important lesson I pass to you: CHECK AND BACKUP EVERYTHING YOU HAVE IMMEDIATELY! If I hadn't slipped up... I would still have those recent videos at least.
If this does happens another time (which I pray it doesn't ever again), I will at least have my stuff backed up somewhere else and it won't be as bad, just copy from the backup and chill.

Also - Samsung's in-person service told me that I would have to leave the device with them for an analysis and the solution would only be to replace the entire motherboard - which would go for almost the price I paid for the phone when I bought it! I doubted them and decided to call their customer helpline. They told me that I could just press a combination of buttons to enter a menu and do a hard reset - it worked instantly. Problem "solved". In less time than what I took just going to their service store.
So... yeah it's good that at least the "repair" I did only took a few minutes and was free. At least I could get back to it in less time and start rebuilding from the ashes, if I had left it at their service center it would've taken 4 business days to get it checked, a week to get the motherboard shipped here, and what not more! Not to mention that it would've been absolutely UNNECESSARY to throw the old board to waste and installing a new one, would cost a fortune that I just don't have by now, but probably would screw up the device as it tends to happen when they do this.
These in-person service people want to earn their cash! They NEVER mentioned that I could just press some buttons and do the hard reset.

WHAT NOW?
Well, can't do much crying over spilled milk. I'll be running after trying to recover the majority of these videos at least - wish me luck! I have to go on again. Lucky that I'm not one to give up with this, many people would, but I'm persistent even with the lack of faith that this gives.
I will also be looking into taking Samsung to court to at least get some attention of theirs over this. Not only to at least get some compensation for the massive amount of emotional and material damages that this caused to me, but so they work on a way to change this - implementing a solution for users to at least recover their stuff when this happens or unlock their phones. Not PERMANENTLY bricking them.
And I do know 2 other people who had a similar Galaxy phone and have been through this same exact situation, they are interested in joining if I go forward suing them. The repair guy at Samsung's official service told me that this issue has been happening A LOT with all of their models.
Wish us luck with this lawsuit thing - I don't even care that much about the money thing, I want to get their attention so they change this, whether by good or by force.

Honestly I don't know if this is an issue because of Samsung (it can happen to any other device regardless of anything), but yeah I don't feel safe using and having to trust and depend of that now. There are few choices to migrate and even despite of that my money doesn't leave me much choice. Not a fan of Apple or Motorola or those chinese brands and... not much to choose beyond that.
I'm feeling a little better now but I felt awful for the past few days. I don't wish an issue like this for anyone on this earth. Beware, I can at least leave this as a cautionary tale.

Thank you for reading and for the support. Please wish the best for me. I love every one of you that makes my small audience and I do this all because of you.

TL;DR: my phone locked by itself permanently and I lost over 7 months of partially non-backed-up work, including 40-50 videos I would post on this channel.
I will go back to try and film most of those, but I'll be taking a break for some weeks until I can at least adjust myself mentally.
