I trust all is well and your giant eagle is not currently under attack by weaponised dirigibles.
Here's one of those text update things that tell you about an upcoming live event. And the event is: Tatalogue Live! The astonishing event where comedian Ash Frith and myself have a look at an old Argos Catalogue, and use it as a jumping-off point to talk about all sorts of gubbins. It's a bit like when we do it on livestream, except we do it... well... live!
It's in my home town of Norwich this very Sunday (24 November 2024) at Barcadia on Prince of Wales Road (Not the train station end, the other end.) 7pm start. JOIN US.
(Tickets sold by Weird Ken round the back of County Hall will not be valid. You can tell which tickets were sold by him as they're just post-it notes with the word "TIKKET" scrawled on them in biro.)
I trust all is well and your home is not being attacked by aliens. (Have a quick look outside just to make sure.)
I've got a couple of live shows coming up in the UK that I thought you might be interested in. This very Sunday (26th May) in Cambridge, myself and comedian Ash Frith will be bringing our livestreaming shenanigans from Twitch into the real world with Tatalogue! Where we have a look at an old Argos Catalogue and use it as a jumping-off point to talk about all sorts of gubbins. Tickets can be obtained from this very link: www.universe.com/events/cambridge-fringe-festival-…
And then! I'm back back BACK at the Norwich Games Festival doing another talk about video game things. That's on 1st June and tickets are here: norwichgamesfestival.co.uk/events/ashens-speaks (I'm also co-writing and presenting the BIG QUIZ afterwards with Did You Know Gaming - click around on that site and you can find tickets for that too.)
Meanwhile on more YouTube-related matters, videos will be starting up again more regularly. What's the next one? I'm currently leaning towards more undelivered mail, but we'll see how I feel next week...
As you've probably spotted in recent videos, we're currently doing one of those crowdfundery things for our new horror movie Turn Back (A folk horror tale told in reverse, y'know!) And! It ends in just 10 hours from the posting of this message, so if you're interested your remaining time is super limited.
We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the idea - massive thanks to those of you who have supported already. Every single tiny bit of support will have a massive impact on what ends up on screen.
In case ye have not seen it: We’ve got various nifty rewards, including action figures and my personal fave the VHS-inspired Movie boxset.
Plus! Big news: We’ve passed a stretch goal that means we’re going to be bringing back Barshens, me and Barry’s infamous "variety show" (How do you describe Barshens?) for a limited-run third series. 3 episodes will go out for free, but there’s an add-on on the Kickstarter for 2 exclusive extra episodes, as well as a nifty set of Barshens merch for people who like physical gubbins.
Again, massive thanks for your support. We're taking a big swing with this one and your support means the world.
Take care,
Stuart.

FAQ:
Q: Why didn't you put out a community post about this before? A: I forgot they were a thing. Again.
Q: Where do community posts go when you post them? A: I don't know. I never see them from other channels. I don't know if that's because I don't know where to look, or if I just happen to subscribe to channels that never post them.
Q: Do I need to give Slepp my bones? A: Giving Slepp your bones is optional, although possibly ultimately inevitable.
I'm doing my first talk in the Forum since COVID hit... er... 893 years ago? I've lost track.
Anyway, it's this Saturday at 3pm. You need to book in advance but tickets are FREE FREE FREE and are available from this link: ticketfairy.com/r/19770/799622
But what is the talk about? Well, I'm keeping that secret. Spook! (It's something to do with video games though. You probably guessed that.)
Will it be recorded and uploaded to the internet afterwards? Probably!
Check out this UNBELIEVABLE video where Elliot from the Retro Future found a genuine MicroSony PSP Boy in a forest and we restored it to mint condition using cutting edge techniques!
Just a quick note to say I'll be at MCM Comic Con in London this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'll have a table / booth thing at all times, and myself and Mr. Ash Frith will be doing a live version of our weird Twitch thing where we look at old sales catalogues from the 1980's and wish we had all the cool toys! That's on the main stage at 11am on Saturday.
I'll even be selling copies of a weird zine* thing full of odd articles and comedy nonsense I mostly wrote over 20 years ago! (I wanted to make something inexpensive that has, well, "content" to it, rather than just some random items with the logo on or something.)
So do come and say HELLO if you happen to be attending. I'll be the one that looks like me.
Time to employ YouTube's TEXT-O-DISPERSAL system again!
If you're around London next week and you'd like to see our film Ashens and the Polybius Heist on the big screen, it's being shown as part of the Buffer Festival. At the incredibly swanky Odeon Luxe in Leicester Square, home of posh premieres and surprisingly high ticket prices!
Anyhoo: It's at 5pm on Saturday 30th October. A lot of the cast & crew will be there and we'll have a quick Q&A afterwards.
If you'd like to come along and make weird honking noises whilst dressed as the Victorian folklore character Spring-heeled Jack, please stay at home. But if you'd like to watch the film, you can book tickets here with 20% off!
Anyway, I'm off to MCM London tomorrow so I'll see you if you're there (I'm doing a live thing on stage at 3:15pm). And then I'm off to Poundland to find any last remaining Halloween weirdnesses before I film this year's special. Then: Sandwiches!
It's weird message system time again! To say thank you for all your support for the Polybius Heist action figures. As you may well have noticed over the years, I bloody love action figures, and it's been an absolute joy to finally get some proper Ashens figures on the go. It was a huge gamble to have them made, but it's been successful and soon they'll be actual real things.
The whole shop at ashensmovie.com is closing up in about 5 hours from now, and then they'll be produced and people can put in their GI Joe VAMP Multi Purpose Attack Vehicles. Or their Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back MTV-7 Multi-Terrain Vehicles. It's up to them!
As ever, all the usual Ashens nonsense will continue on. I've got a load of Galidor stuff to look at (It's Lego's secret shame!) and I've got to do part 2 of the Ed's Easy Diner microwave stuff soon as I need the space in the freezer...
Take care and thanks again folks. I'll leave you with this image of Ashens and the Cube being menaced by the Owl Man.
Just wanted to use this weird message system to say a big THNAKS (It's like "thanks", only spelled incorrectly) for all your kind words about the 15th anniversary of Ashens. It's good to know there'll still be people around watching my next 850 videos because THE TAT MUST FLOW.
There is an odd coincidence in the anniversary stuff too. I was expecting to celebrate two milestones this year - 15 years, and half a billion views. Except... the channel hit half a billion views the exact same day as the 15th anniversary! So we'll have to hold out for 750,000,000 which will take about another 8 years or so. Ho hum. I'll make sure the Funk Spindle has fresh batteries for then.
Thinking about it, it's not the only time-related coincidence we had. We started shooting Ashens and the Polybius Heist exactly 7 years to the minute from the time we started shooting Quest for the GameChild! What are the chances of that?! ...About 1 in 261, as we never start shooting on a weekend and we always start day one at a sensible time in the morning. (Incidentally, if you want any physical discs of our films jump over to ashensmovie.com quicksmart - they're only available for about 26 hours from the time I'm sending this message and I don't know when / if they'll be back.)
I look forward to to the next weird coincidence. Maybe I'll put up a video about a new POP Station the same moment scientists work out how people can fire their arms and legs at each other.
Stay groovy and remember: if you fancy some more Ashens-y nonsense I do live shows on Twitch every Wednesday at 8:30pm and Sundays at 8pm, all UK time. Wednesdays are interactive quizzes and weird games, Sundays are guests and mostly laughing at old consumer catalogues. twitch.tv/ashens (Sunday streams are likely to stop when the pandemic is over but Wednesdays are forever.)
