Caddx Walksnail Goggles X Upgrade Module

2 Years after the release of the CaddX Walksnail Goggles X CaddxFPV have removed all mention of upgradability from the Goggles X page on their website.

3rd parties may still show this information however after Caddx recent Q&A on the new Ascent system its become clear that no module will be made available.

It is good news CaddX have updated their website for future customers however this does not change the fact many people who have already purchased the CaddX Goggles X had included the upgradability claim as a factor in their purchasing decision.

This is a sad situation where a manufacture makes a marketing claim they then later withdraw.

The information I provided in my review of the CaddX Goggles X about upgradability at the time was based on the information provided by CaddX and was inline with their own marketing. While that has only now changed this does not mean I am happy about what feels like being misled in the marking of the product.

When ever making purchasing decisions about products with yet unreleased or promised future features a brands previous history should be taken into account.

From this point forward we will be adding additional disclaimers on any reviews of products from this brand highlighting these kinds of issues.

Thanks

TBS Chupito Lucid Wing AIO BEC Warning.

Hi All, it's come to light there may be an issue with the BEC selection for the digital VTX port on the new TBS Lucid Wing.

From the factory the digital VTX connector voltage is set to Vbat, this works fine.

However there is an internal solder jumper that should allow you to set the VTX port voltage to the Bec servo rail voltage, ie 5V as as an example for use with the DJI O4 Airunit.

Unfortunately it appears this jumper is not working on the Digital VTX connection as expected and even if you solder the jumper to select bec voltage the digital VTX port will still provide full battery voltage to the digital VTX port.

If you intend to use the TBS Lucid Wing with any VTX that does not support full battery voltage contact TBS support for further instructions before proceeding.

If you VTX supports the fully battery voltage ie 6S like the DJI O4 Pro Airunit, DJI O3 and others then you do not have to worry.

CaddX Avatar HD New Firmware Issue Warning

Firmware v39.44.3

Hi everyone, further to last weekends video discussing the new firmware form Caddx I am reccomending you do not upgrade due to issues that have come to light.

First raised by users and I have been able to replicate - there appears to be issues with both Auto Recording and binding.

Auto Recording - Not working or long delay on disarm.

Depending on the goggles and VTX used you may find that auto recording on arming is either not working at all, or if it does work there is a long delay 30s or more after disarming before recording stops leading file corruption if you power down goggles or VTX before recording has finished.

Further to this in my tests when armed correctly triggering manual recording produced incorrect warning of not being able to record in low power mode.

Binding - VTX work bind even when updated.

I have found some VTX won't bind to Goggles X even when both are on v39.44.3. Same VTX binds to Goggles L again on same version without issue.

It's not clear if this is a goggles or VTX related issue at this time.

As a result of this I do not recommend anyone updates to v39.44.3 and if you already have downgrading to a previously known stable version is highly recommend as it's not clear what else may be wrong at this time.

Here and now this firmware does not appear to be stable and should be avoided.

Today's DJI And CaddX video - Updates.

In today's release I discussed the new firmware for both DJI and Caddx however I now have a little more information

The DJI Passcode Lock.

It seems the introduction of the passcode lock is not as crazy as initially thought and is actually related to new laws coming into force in the EU from 1st August 2025 that require internet connected devices to have additional security measures to both prevent unauthorised use and protect user data.

These new EU requirement is part of the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) that mandates new equipment sold after the 1st August 2025 comply with the following.

"Network Protection: Devices must prevent unauthorized access and protect against interference.

Data Security: User information must be encrypted and protected from breaches.

Fraud Prevention: Security protocols should prevent identity spoofing, unauthorized transactions, and data manipulation."

The outcome of this is password protection is required on devices that are both holding user data and are connected to the cloud and even manufacturers such as Canon and others with WiFi compatible devices like cameras have started to introduce password protection on their products like DJI have.

In the case of DJI they have added this password protection to the Goggles 3, N3 and all their other remotes with a screen like the RC 2 a s RC Pro 2 that have WiFi connectivity.

It appears this new screen lock has been introduced to allow these products to be compliant with new EU regulations and allow sales to continue.

Just Wow

Caddx FPV

In today video I stated this is the first update to avatar in a year that ads new features. This is actually not true as caddx released firmware
October time that did add new features.

I got this wrong however this is because Caddx have not listed it in their official release notes. Caddxs own release notes do not show the correct time line of firmware releases actually have skipped some and I had to look at 3rd partly websites to find out the actual release history.

As a result while I was giving you the information that caddx publish on their website it was intact incorrect. .

Honestly Wow again and I just don't know where to even start with this!

However to be clear my comments on both systems not getting many features remains correct and very little has changed on either for months with both systems stagnating.

DJI Neo 2 Digital Transceiver - A New Airunit?

Today the FCC fillings dropped for the Neo 2 and long side this week got a suprise, a new FCC filing for the DJI Neo 2 Digital Transceiver.

In my initial investigation of the fillings this very much looks like it could be a new Airunit.

This is a bit of a suprise however as the O4 Airunit is based on the Neo camera it does somewhat make sense that this could be a new one that includes the Neo 2 calers and even possibly to replace the current O4 Airunit and the many complaints we have had with it

While there is not a great deal of info this does not appear to be a drone or a remote, it's definaly a transmitting device and the specs we can see so far are

Dual Band O4 Spec.
Dual Antenna
26dbm RF Output

While it's not absolutey 100% this is an Airunit it's definitely got a whiff of one and in not exactly sure what else it could be.

Not sure on the naming though!

Runcam WiFi Link & Emax VRX

Hi all I have had quite a few questions this week asking if I am going to be reviewing the Runcam WiFi Link 2 and VRX Module as well as the Emax VRX.

The answer to that is absolutely yes however while Runcam have sent some creators samples I was not included in this pre release.

This may be driven by the fact I did not make dedicated content on the original WiFi Link and Runcam Thumb 2 due to a few issues. They were though discussed in livr streams.

There are some minimum standards a product must meet before I will make dedicated content and at the time they did not.

However I have ordered the WiFi Link V2 and that has shipped and should be here shortly unfortunately the VRX is not listed for purchase at this time so that will take longer.

With regards to Emax they did reach out and I am expecting their VRX to turn up as and when.

As always as soon as the gear arrives I will start the usual evaluation process and content.

DJI O4 OSD Betaflight - Inav - Ardupilot - KissUltra

Hi All it seems some people are having issues with OSD on O4 and that there is currently an issue with Inav and O4 specifically.

As I have had so many questions on this I thought I would provide an update after testing this all my self.

Before launch there was rumors and actually solid info to say DJI was adding full Inav OSD support to O4.  On release it was found this support was not there and it seems DJI pulled it before public release.

We know it was actually there in testing as we had seen leaks of the option and also we know the Inav font pack was added to the Goggles firmware.  We were also aware that there were some alignment issues as well that were highlighted to DJI by SneakyFPV and passed along him, my self and others.

It's likely this is the reason it was pulled however there some hope DJI will still add support in the future based on comments from DJI support.

However today this means O4 still only has the default betaflight font set installed and should work with all of the flight stacks as DJI O3 did before.

Since release it's been found while Inav is still able to display the betaflight font pack Arming and recording on take off is not working.

As a result of this I have have tested all of the flight stacks I have and can confirm O4 works as per the following

Betaflight - Osd & Arming fully working as expected.

Kiss Ultra - Osd & Arming fully working as expected.

Ardupilot - Osd & Arming fully working as expected ( with BF Fonts)

Inav - Osd is working with BF fonts however MSP Arming is not.  This means on take off you will remain in low power mode and your system with will not auto record.

The good news is as DJI have fixed Low Power Mode on O4 you can now just disable it and manually set your power and manual record in the meantime.

Right now I don't believe this is intentional by DJI and it's likely some quirk between Inav and DJI in the way it's talking, hopefully it will get resolved by one side sooner or later.  With regards to the official Inav OSD support we will just have to wait and see.

Thanks
