412teens is dedicated to encouraging teens and sharing pearls of biblical truth in a sea of spiritual sludge. We're a ministry of Got Questions Ministries. Our mission is to glorify God by providing biblical, applicable, compassionate, and timely answers to spiritually-related questions about topics of interest to young believers. We aim to encourage healthy physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health in every young Christian we encounter.

The "412" stands for 1 Timothy 4:12, which is "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." Just because you're young, that doesn't mean you have nothing to offer. Teens are 100% capable of receiving and expressing God's amazing grace and love.

"Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you." —Exodus 20:12 (NLT)

Biblically, to be honorable is to hold ourselves to a high moral standard, to be considered trustworthy and respectful, and to be regarded as a person with integrity. If we are to be honorable, we need to treat our parents honorably. That is, we treat them respectfully and honestly and acknowledge their position as our parents.

LOVE LIKE JESUS-- The Bible gives us a pretty clear picture of what biblical love looks like (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). When we share our faith and beliefs with our parents, are we patient? When they reject what we say, are we kind to them in response? Does our expression of love for our parents endure even through times of devastation or hardship?

Despite our weakness, God is strong (1 Corinthians 1:25). We ought to diligently pray for our unbelieving parents to see the light of the Gospel of Christ and for us to grow in wisdom and spiritual maturity.

"People do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." —Deuteronomy 8:3 (NLT)

Spiritual warfare is when our enemy, Satan, and his demons fight against us and God on a spiritual level. One of the most powerful weapons we have against these attacks is reading, meditating on, and memorizing the Bible. God's Word contains all the information God wants us to have about our spirituality and relationship with Him.

The Bible is our Sword! Jesus gave the perfect example of how to use the Sword of the Spirit (the Bible) against spiritual attack. Every time Satan tempted Him, Jesus began His rebuttal with, "The Scriptures say...." Jesus knew the Scriptures well and trusted them, so He easily stood up to Satan's lies.

In the Bible, God lays out His truth and promises to us. God promises to be with His followers through any hardship and helps us with temptations. We don’t have to fear circumstances or other people. The Holy Spirit reminds us of God's truths so we can counter the enemy's lies (John 14:26).

"I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences." —Mark 3:28-29 (NLT)

Can a Christian commit the unforgivable sin? Nope. The definition of a Christian is someone who recognized their sin, accepted that sin was bad, and asked Jesus to forgive them. If you've asked Jesus for forgiveness, then you've already accepted the gospel.

Are you saved?

The unforgivable sin is just that: the sin God will not forgive (Mark 3:28-29). It's blasphemy, which means ignoring the Holy Spirit's warning of coming judgment and rejecting the gospel of Jesus Christ up until the moment of death (John 16:8-11).

Believers have already accepted the gospel, so they CANNOT commit the unforgivable sin.

"All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right." —2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT)

“Breathed by God” means that the words of the Bible came from God Himself. So it's accurate to say that God is the author, and He inspired men of God to write down His words.

Through God didn't take a quill and lay ink on the page, He divinely inspired human writers, who wrote down precisely what He told them to over the course of about 1500 years.

Because God spoke through these writers, the individual writing styles and "voice" of each writer was preserved in every page they were inspired to write, yet God's words and message could be conveyed uniquely and for His purposes.

While the magical parts of Santa Claus and the 20th century marketing tropes are made up, there's a beautiful little twist in his origin story. Santa's traditions and legends reach all the way back to a real Christian church leader who existed long ago.

Saint Nicholas (AD 270-343) was a Christian church leader in Asia Minor who cared about people in his community. He sought out ways to practice generosity from his heart, bless others, and meet the needs of the destitute.

These are all things Jesus taught too (Luke 6:38), which is why it makes sense for them to be a part of the
spirit of Christmas.

The modern use of a decorated tree at Christmas doesn’t come from any source of paganism. There's no solid historical or archeological evidence to support the idea that pagan religions even decorated trees for the purpose of worship.

The Bible neither commands nor prohibits the use of Christmas trees.

Some like to use Jeremiah 10:1-16 or Isaiah 44 as an argument against decorating trees. However, given the context, it's pretty clear that these passages are referring to creating wooden idols plated in silver and gold.

So a decorated Christmas tree is not a spiritual issue. Whatever choices we make in life, our motives should always be to please the Lord.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." —1 Corinthians 10:31

"We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places." —Ephesians 6:12 (NLT)

Every day, we have opportunities to do what's right in the eyes of God. If we say yes, it's almost certain something will happen that makes doing the right thing much harder.

Sometimes, the fight is evidence that we're on the right track! Whatever the situation, we need to rely on the power of God and not give in to fear. We can—and must—stand firm in the midst of spiritual warfare.

"We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves." —2 Corinthians 4:7 (NLT)

The doctrine of purgatory is the belief that, even after receiving Christ's gift of grace, we may still fall into sin that needs to be paid for, and that, after we die, we must be purified of this sin so that we can enter heaven. This is an unbiblical concept.
Faith is all it takes to receive God's full measure of grace. Jesus paid for ALL our sins.

"If we confess our sins, [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." —1 John 1:9

Purgatory cannot exist because we no longer need to be purified beyond Christ's work on the cross. We are washed clean of sins when we accept the gift of salvation through Christ. Psalm 103:12 says that "as far as the east is from the west, so far does [God] remove our transgressions from us."

"Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ.." —Acts 2:38a

Why should you be baptized?

If you’re a believer, what do you have to prove? What’s the point of being baptized if everyone already knows you're a believer? Jesus told His followers to teach others God's Word, make disciples, and baptize those disciples (Matthew 28:19-20).

There are only two requirements to fulfill before getting baptized.

First, you must have trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior from sin. Second, you must truly understand what baptism is—a step of obedience in publicly proclaiming your faith in Christ.

Third, you should want to be baptized. Don't do it out of obligation, pride, or peer pressure. Do it out of a desire to worship and obey God through your baptism.

"There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all." —Ephesians 4:5-6

Baptism is a symbolic act that publicly declares your decision to have a new life in Jesus Christ. It's a way to tell everyone: "I believe that Jesus saved me, and I'm committed to Him now."

Anyone who has accepted Christ as their Savior can (and should) be baptized. It's not a "requirement" for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Corinthians 12:13), but baptism is still an important part of our spiritual journey.

Baptism is obedience to God and identifies us with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection (2 Corinthians 5:17). The believer's entire body goes under water then is quickly brought out.

Going under the water is symbolic for dying and being buried with Christ. Coming out of the water symbolizes being resurrected with new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-4).
