So, whether ye be a landlubber or a seasoned sea dog, today’s the day to sprinkle yer speech with a hearty “Arrr!” and “Ahoy!”

And mateys! It’s time to swashbuckle your way through International Talk Like a Pirate Day in Brighton today. This year, it’s all about setting sail for a pirate-themed day that’ll make even the saltiest sea dog’s heart skip a beat. Set your course for adventure with a treasure hunt. Armed with your smartphone, you’ll navigate through a series of clues and riddles, using GPS to uncover hidden treasures and rack up your score. It’s a fun mix of technology and pirate lore that’ll have you racing across town like a fleet of buccaneers in search of hidden loot. Get ready to test your wits and uncover secrets.

What other pirate phrases can we teach yo?

Arrr, ye be in for a treat! Here be some more pirate lingo to spice up yer talk:

• “Ahoy!” – A greeting, like “Hello!”
• “Avast!” – Stop and pay attention.
• “Aye!” – Yes.
• “Aye aye!” – I’ll get right on it.
• “Blimey!” – An expression of surprise.
• “Booty” – Treasure.
• “Davy Jones’ Locker” – The bottom of the sea, where drowned sailors go.
• “Jolly Roger” – The pirate flag with a skull and crossbones.
• “Landlubber” – Someone who is not used to life at sea.
• “Scallywag” – A mischievous person.
• “Shiver me timbers!” – An expression of surprise or disbelief.
• “Yo-ho-ho!” – A pirate’s laugh.
Now ye be ready to talk like a true buccaneer! How about tryin’ out some of these phrases in a sentence, matey? 🏴‍☠️

Aye aye, matey! Here be a sonnet, pirate-style:

Upon the briny deep, where waves do crest, A ship doth sail beneath the moon’s soft light. With sails unfurled, her crew in search of quest, to find the treasure hidden out of sight.
The captain stands, his gaze upon the stars, with compass true, he charts the course ahead. Through storms and squalls, through battles and through scars, He leads his crew where angels fear to tread.
Oh, Jolly Roger flutters in the breeze, A symbol of the life they chose to lead. With hearts as wild as the untamed seas, they seek adventure, driven by their creed.
So, raise a glass, to pirates bold and free, who sail the seas in search of destiny.
Arrr, hope ye enjoyed that! What say ye, matey? 🏴‍☠️

Merkur Bingo is Transferring to Buzz Bingo.

The Cricklewood and Northampton Branch of the Merkur Bingo enterprises are transferring to Buzz Bingo.

Buzz Bingo run by Buzz Group Limited are in advanced discussions to acquire two of the UK’s largest bingo clubs at the MERKUR Bingo sites in Cricklewood and Northampton. These high-performing bingo clubs will become part of Buzz Bingo’s retail estate. The acquisition aligns with Buzz Bingo’s growth strategy, following a year of strong performance. The move capitalizes on the renaissance of bingo in the UK, driven by increased consumer confidence and a younger demographic embracing bingo as a trendy form of out-of-home entertainment.

MERKUR Bingo, formerly Beacon Bingo, is a part of the gaming company MERKUR Casino UK. Operating 3 large Bingo Clubs and over 220 MERKUR Slots arcades across the UK. MERKUR Bingo offers one of the best bingo experiences in the UK with Bingo, Slots, Bar, Food and great service. MERKUR Bingo Cricklewood is the largest club in the UK & Europe and awarded the Guiness Book of Records for the largest payouts in one session.

Being a member of Merkur Bingo I am glad to see that Bingo is coming back into fashion. I have had birthday celebrations at Cricklewood Bingo and enjoyed a Caribbean meal at an affordable price. It is the best place to be on a Saturday night if you want to socialise with friends, family, and members. I am yet to win at Bingo but that doesn’t bother me because I had the best night out ever, but I will be back to try my luck again.

Reform drops three candidates over offensive far right comments.

Reform UK, which is a right-wing political party, has dropped three of its candidates following offensive remarks caught on camera.

Candidates whose names cannot be revealed due to legal ramifications have been dropped as candidates for the general election on the 4th of July by the party, but this means that due to time limitations their names will still appear on ballot papers at the polling booths as it is too late to scrub out their names.

A Reform UK spokeswoman said if any of the three were to be elected then they would have to sit in the Houses of Commons as an independent Minister of Parliament. So, this means, due to administrative delays voters can still vote for these candidates after they made offensive racist slurs against the prime minister.

What these candidates said was unacceptable and they don’t get to say that at all because racist slurs are an affront to humans particularly offensive derogatory language to black and ethnic minority groups in Britain. If these thug candidates are elected, then this political party have weaponised party politics in the vilest of way as well as politicising the whole of the country.

It is not okay for these so called ‘actors’ to rant out abusive racist slurs as if there are no real consequences to their words. This is not freedom of speech thing. It is hating speech and if left unchecked it may well polarise British politics and they don’t get to do that on our watch. Right?

An 89-year-old woman from the Windrush generation is facing homelessness because the Home Office says it cannot verify her identity.

Thelma Campbell has been asked to leave the supported housing estate she has lived in for over two decades in Tottenham, north London, as residents are being evicted following a slew of structural issues.
Thelma moved to Britain from Jamaica in 1960 as part of the Windrush mass migrant worker drive.
She has been a resident of the Borough of Haringey for decades and is in receipt of state pension.

Thelma says, "We've been treated differently because we are Black".
So, why is the council demanding to see Ms. Campbell's British passport as proof of British citizenship if she is already receiving state pension?
