The "Ash People"
Unlike the previous films which showed the Na'vi as noble protectors of nature, this movie introduces the Mangkwan Clan (the Ash People). They are a more aggressive, volcanic-dwelling tribe led by a character named Varang (played by Oona Chaplin). James Cameron has noted that this film aims to show a "darker" side of the Na'vi.
