Rupert Spira is an international author and speaker of non-duality.
In clips taken from conversations at meetings or retreats, he discuss all aspects of the non-dual understanding — from the initial investigation into our essential nature of pure Awareness, to the deeper exploration of consciousness and the separate 'me-feeling' in the body, to the realignment of the mind, body and world with this new understanding.
This is a contemporary, experiential approach to understanding the nature of reality and the self, involving silent meditation, guided meditation and conversation. It requires no affiliation to any religious or spiritual tradition, only a longing for lasting inner peace and happiness.
Rupert studied the teachings of Advaita Vedanta and the tantric tradition of Kashmir Shaivism through Dr. Francis Roles, Shantananda Saraswati, P.D.Ouspensky, Krishnamurti, Rumi, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta, Robert Adams, Francis Lucille, Atmanada Krishnamenon and Jean Klein.

A man says that finding motivation to do income-generating work has been a challenge for him lately. He wants to know why he has lost his ambition for earning a living and the drive to achieve things and pursue results.
Rupert says: ‘Your previous motivations were all engaged in the service of the separate self. When you became aware of this understanding, the ego started diminishing, along with the motivation to engage in those activities. But after a while, a new motivation will arise in you that no longer comes from the egoic self but from your love and understanding.
‘And just be careful if there’s any attitude in you that drive, ambition, motivation or desire is contrary to what we speak of here. It is quite common in the spiritual community that this is considered to be egoic – but that is a misunderstanding. Only the desire, motivation or ambition that comes from the sense of lack is contrary to what we speak of here.’

In June, Rupert will return to the stunning Vedanta, in Lincolnshire, England, for a seven-day retreat. If you’re unable to attend in person, you can join us via livestream.
Livestream participants will have streaming access to all meetings during the retreat and will be able to view recordings of all sessions for 30 days after the retreat ends – so you can easily catch up on any missed sessions or listen again to take the understanding a little deeper.
