I have been testing an unreleased bike with the new Shimano EP801 motor. We all know about the rattle the existing EP8 has - it was the first thing I noticed when I tested that motor when it was launched. BUT- the NEW EP801…. I have found that it is MUCH quieter than EP8.
Rattle is *almost gone. It takes a LOT MORE CHUNK I to make it rattle, and when it does, the I noise is much, much quieter. The old EP8 would rattle over the smallest of twigs, this one takes a steep enduro track to make some noise, and it's no where near as noticeable
Shimano have done a good job on this one. Also, power is noticeable better. Stats wise, it's 20% more powerful (600w peak). Offers more power across the cadence range.
More testing needed but early indications are very positive.

We captured an amazing sunrise over Mount Snowdon then did the awesome techy descent back down - if you get an opportunity to do this ride I’d 100% recommend it!
