And that’s a wrap for me at Nashville Rocknpod Expo 2025! It was an incredible experience and I am so thankful for everyone who worked night and day to make it happen. It was so wonderful to catch up with my buddies at the Decibel Geek Podcast, and also to meet some fellow podcasters who have great shows!
This year I was able to interview Tom Zutaut, @BillySheehanOfficial , Brian "Damage" Forsythe, @HollywoodGlow , and Robert Fleischman… all terrific guests!!! And on top of that, I was the host for a panel discussion with the director of the “Y&T: On With The Show” documentary, Mark White (from the Rock & Roll Happy Hour With Mark and Frankie J)! Plus I got to chat with “The Metal Cowboy” @ronkeeltv
Videos are coming soon!
Thank you so much to Tracy, Andy, and all the volunteers who made everything go so smoothly for us all. 🙏🙏🙏
I recently joined hosts Jesse and Sylvan on their "Perfectly Good Podcast: John Hiatt from A to Z" for an episode about John's song "I'm a Real Man", which was included on his 1985 album "Warming Up to the Ice Age".
This conversation is about a song deep in John Hiatt's discography, and it was a joy to visit with Jesse and Sylvan again, so please give it a listen!
Description:
"The group dives deep into the song's lyrics, the context in which it was written, and what makes it unique within Hiatt's discography. They also touch upon its reception, numerous cover versions, and how this tune reflects broader trends in music from that era. This thoughtful discussion includes personal anecdotes, historical perspectives, and a debate on the song’s quality."
Caught up with JOSEPH WOOTEN, the longtime keyboardist for the Steve Miller Band before SMB’s recent Milwaukee concert. Great guy! Meeting him has been one of the best things I’ve experienced since starting this podcast. Please check out my interview with him from earlier this year!
I recently joined hosts Jesse and Sylvan on their "Perfectly Good Podcast: John Hiatt from A to Z" for an episode about John's song "I Got a Gun", which was included on his 1985 album "Warming Up to the Ice Age".
This conversation is about a song deep in John Hiatt's discography, and it was also one of the most fun guest spots I've ever done, so please give it a listen!
Description:
"The trio discusses the song's dark themes of abuse and revenge, the implications of its lyrics, and the 1980s influences on its production. They also touch on the broader context of domestic violence in media and the emotional catharsis potentially offered by the song. The episode includes a lively analysis of the song's narrative perspective, the problematic nature of vigilante justice, and comparisons to other media."
I visited Detroit this past weekend and had a fantastic time. I was able to check out a few excellent local music sites, including the MC5 mural on the old Grande Ballroom, as well as the Bob Seger photo exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum.
I've been to Detroit a couple of times now and I've enjoyed each visit. Wonderful city!
