I Interviewed the President of the United States!

.....

Ok, he’s not the president yet.

And also, he’s almost certainly not going to be the next president.

However! He is running on the biggest third-party ticket, which means he’s the closest thing to a president of the US that I’ve ever had on the show.

Here's just some of what we talk about:

- The title in the Social Security act that destroyed the nuclear family

- The current Hamas-Israel conflict

- Joshua's path from joining the navy in the aftermath of 9/11 to becoming the most anti-war candidate running.

Freedom Choke Points

Some of the most valuable lessons I learned about being more free in the world today come from being a rebellious kid.

See, from about ages 9 to 17, the thing I wanted the most in the world was to be an adult.

To me, being an adult meant freedom.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to get there other than waiting.

So I figured, in the meantime, the next best thing was breaking as many rules as I could and not get caught.

For example, I skipped school all the time in 11th and 12th grade.

It was easy.

All you have to do is make sure you’re there to sign in for homeroom.

After that, you just have to make sure all your teachers know that you have a very busy sports schedule.

Then plan ahead for mischief.

The secret to my school-skipping-success was that I didn’t seem like a problem kid.

I was in the top 2% of my class academically. I was captain of water polo and wrestling teams. I was even the Honor Societies homecoming king candidate.

Everybody just assumed that a kid like that is on the straight and narrow.

And, frankly, from my perspective all I was doing is proving that the adults’ rules were pointless.

Why should I attend class and let a history teacher repeat all the details about the battle of Gettysburg when I already read all three chapters on the civil war?

The point I’m making is that I found the places they were trying to control me and I figured out the workarounds.

I was thinking about this today because over the past few weeks I’ve done hotseats in two different masterminds.

And I got the same question in both groups. “What’s your business about?”

To me, it’s about identifying an area where your freedoms are being restricted (employment and sovereignty) and then removing the restrictions.

It’s not like there’s no risk. But If you want to be free… if you want to live and speak without fear… you can.

You just have to identify the places where you’re being controlled and find the work arounds.

Examine your life, with an eye toward where you’re being controlled, and the workarounds become easier to spot. So figure them out. Then find ways around them.

P.S.
