My name is @RomanyMalco. I'm smiling but today my heart is sad. Time with my friends is spent social distancing and my loved ones prefer to express their vulnerabilities via text. It seems the more I evolve the lonelier I become.

My love language is good, old fashioned, face-to-face communication. Yet, I'm not all that articulate, and I'm hardly the best conversationalist.

I've been told I'm a genius, to which I reply, "at what exactly?" I don't feel very smart. In truth, I have a high school education and I graduated in the lowest quarter of my class. Yet many of my teachers referred to me as a "brilliant student."

I struggle with vulnerability, but I no longer pursue perfection. I'm a loner with a good heart, who has partially restored his damaged self esteem. I attribute some of this restoration to psychotherapy, forgiving people who’ve hurt me, taking full responsibility for my actions and letting go of the things I cannot control.

I've been hurt and traumatized repeatedly throughout life, first by my primary caregivers, then their peers. But because I didn't know how to identify the effects of my trauma in my adult life, I chose to love, do business and/or associate with hurt and traumatized people. I felt more comfortable in dysfunctional company and possibly still do.

.
I've pretended to be someone I was not just to be liked and accepted. I so feared rejection that I seldom went after the things I really wanted. Instead, I learned to play small and be content and grateful with what I had.

I’ve wasted decades of my life being a people pleaser.
.
.
.
As a teen I lived in Texas were my younger brother and I were bullied and never considered "black enough" due to our #Trinidad heritage. I've also been regarded as "corny." I've had over 20 fist fights in my life, all of which were in self-defense or to defend my younger brother.

Being on Radio and TV gained me a lot more acceptance in my old hood, but it also made me less trusting of that very acceptance.
.
.
.
I can recall my family and I checking for coins between sofa cushions in attempt to buy a turkey on Thanksgiving day. But I’ve always known there were people in the world who were much worse off than me.

.
.
I've been broke, well off and a millionaire on numerous occasions, but I have never been morally bankrupt.
.
.
.
I served as a reserve in the US Marine Corp but boot camp and SOI (School of Infantry) were my favorite parts.
.
.
.
I have two kids dads and I have two nieces, all of whom I adore. They call me daddy, tio and/or Rom. My work pulls me away from family and it hurts. My dream is to have enough control over my career to determine where I work so that I can be closer to the ones I love.

.
I am treated so well by my loved ones and the people I've chosen to be around. Soon my significant other will give birth to my first biological child. We worry and pray for a healthy, mentally sound child and a safe birth.

.
.
Today, my biggest struggles come from within, wondering if I'm doing enough, learning enough, growing, giving enough. You know what else I worry over? Whether or not I am a good father, good uncle, brother, son and husband.

.
I started a YouTube channel to help people who grew up in the same dysfunction as me and I was laughed at for being a grown ass YouTuber. That YouTube character, @TijuanaJackson is now the star of an indie film. Because of it I am now invited to business discussions I'd been excluded from for the first 20 years of my film career. I've never felt as accomplished in my career as I do today.

I genuinely care for people but I live to help the little guy from poor neighborhoods. I aim to help the person given the same misleading education as I.

One of my biggest lessons is that I succeed at that which I am consistent and I fail at things I attempt to do alone.

I am flawed but I am truly working at being better. I've grown into my own and have become quite accepting of myself, my mistakes and shortcomings.

.
I have been racially discriminated against by people of many different races and cultures but I’ve also been helped and given opportunities by people of many different races and cultures.

.
