Midlake is an indie rock band from Denton, Texas, known for their rich harmonies, cinematic storytelling, and folk-infused sound. Formed in 1999, the band initially explored jazz and experimental rock before embracing a warm, nostalgic folk-rock style. Their breakthrough came with The Trials of Van Occupanther (2006), featuring the beloved track Roscoe. Later albums, including The Courage of Others (2010) and Antiphon (2013), showcased evolving textures and deep lyrical introspection. After a hiatus, Midlake returned in 2022 with For the Sake of Bethel Woods, blending their signature atmospheric sound with fresh, forward-thinking arrangements. Through decades of sonic reinvention, Midlake has built a devoted global following, delivering music that feels both timeless and deeply personal. Whether through intricate instrumentation or haunting melodies, their work continues to captivate listeners seeking authenticity and depth.

To expect this ball of fire to shine down on you daily, providing necessary vitamins instead of incinerating our ungrateful asses should serve as a reminder to be thankful for all things big and small, seen and unseen.
I thought James Lance’s performance captured this so beautifully and we are so excited to share both the song and video with everyone.

“The Ghouls” is out now accompanied by a video shot by Jordan McClellan that captures our time in the studio. It was one of the first songs written for the album, at a time when we weren't sure if there was even going to be another record. It helped encourage us to continue building songs together and hopefully will encourage others to want to hear the full collection of songs.

We are pleased to announce the release of our sixth album, “A Bridge To Far”, out November 7th.
The album title, not a typo, explores the hope, belief and ultimate path to something or somewhere greater, despite the circumstances. Escapism can be a double edged sword but the desire is to encourage it for good.
Making this record with the band and producer Sam Evian at The Echo Lab was a great experience and the perfect match for these songs. To just play in the room together and capture an authentic interpretation of songs is a great joy and on this album we did just that. Stylistically there’s familiarity in places we’ve been as a band in the past as well as new places. Thank you for sticking with us after all these years, or for discovering us for the first time…we’re still here and grateful for that and so much more.
