Today is Mindfulness Day - and apparently, I can look very mindful. 😂

I have plenty of photos where I'm sitting quietly, breathing peacefully and looking like I haven't had a stray thought since Tuesday.

Reality? My brain may be wondering what I'm making for dinner, remembering something I forgot to do, or suddenly deciding right now is the perfect time to replay a conversation from 2017.

Here's something I love about mindfulness: you can practice mindfulness almost anytime - even if you're not looking particularly mindful at the moment.

You don't have to sit cross-legged on the floor, hum, put on your fancy yoga pants or somehow stop thinking.

Mindfulness is really about paying attention to what's happening right now....

It can be noticing that your mind wandered - and coming back without judgment. Feeling your feet as you walk. Paying attention to your breath. Really tasting something you're eating. Noticing what your body is doing during a movement instead of mentally writing tomorrow's grocery list. (We can always do that later.)

And then your mind wanders again.

Welcome back. 😉

What brings you back to the present moment?

If you'd like to practice Yoga Nidra with us, use the link and we'll join you there:

Five exercises. Four rounds. 20 minutes. 💪

Today’s new workout keeps things straightforward - but that doesn’t mean easy. 😉

We’re combining lower-body strength, core, upper-body strength and cardio in one total-body circuit, then coming back to those same five exercises for four rounds.

One thing I like about repeating the movements is that once you know what’s coming, you can spend less time figuring out what to do and more time paying attention to how you’re moving.

Which do you prefer in a circuit - repeating the same exercises or getting new ones every round?

How many lunges have we done over the years? Be sure to include all the stairs you've climbed and the laundry you've picked up off the floor - as well as the perfectly executed lunges performed during workouts. 😂

This rear lunge with a weight pass behind the back has been one of my favorite movements lately. I think it's because it takes a basic functional movement and adds a little surprise. 🤩 Now we're working lower body strength, single-leg balance, core stability, coordination and shoulder mobility - while moving a weight around the body.

Same old lunge? Not exactly.

Sometimes changing one element is all it takes to make a familiar movement feel completely different - and a lot more fun.

Just be careful and don't drop the weight on your toes. 😉

What movement have you genuinely enjoyed lately?

Walk. Flow. Move. Breathe.

What happens when a walking workout flows right into yoga? 🚶‍♀️🧘‍♀️

That's what we're exploring in our newest 15-minute workout.

We’ll get in some steps and build energy with cardio walking, then use that energy to flow into standing yoga for strength, balance and mobility.

And instead of simply stopping there, we'll gradually shift that energy with mindful movement and breath - so you can finish feeling focused, refreshed and ready to get back to your day.

All in about 15 minutes.

What do you think? Are you ready to give it a try?

Give me a bike and somewhere new to explore and I’m very happy. 🚲

Finland made that especially easy. We cycled through the islands, spent time in Helsinki and Turku, carried our gear with us, and cooked outside along the way.

My very glamorous bike-trip menu included tofu and veggies because they travel surprisingly well without refrigeration for a few days. 🥦🥕

And one of my favorite food discoveries was a traditional Finnish oat and carrot bread that happened to be naturally gluten free. I loved it - and even made it when I got home.

There’s something about traveling by bike that changes the way you experience a place. You notice the scenery, the little towns, the food, the weather - and all the things you’d fly right past in a car.

What’s your favorite way to explore somewhere new?

Can a few minutes of tai chi rooting change the way you experience your balance? 🌳

That’s what we’re exploring in this newest practice.

It all begins with Rooster Stands on One Leg - also known as Golden Rooster - as a balance check. Then Sharlyn guides you through a tai chi rooting and grounding practice before returning to Golden Rooster so you can try it again - and compare.

Rooting isn’t about becoming rigid or perfectly still. It’s about finding stability while staying relaxed and free to move - rooted and fluid at the same time.

Try the practice and pay attention to what you notice the second time around.

Actual words that came out of my mouth while filming last Friday's cooldown:

"I'm a fan of the hip fan." 🤦‍♀️😂

In my defense, I did apologize...

Apparently my verbal filter clocked out before I did.

Is it lower body day already? 😄

I'll admit - it's not always the workout I look forward to either.

But this one is worth it. I promise.

My new 20-Minute Legs, Glutes & Core Workout combines lower-body strength with balance, coordination and core stability to help you build the kind of strength that supports how you move every day.

We're using an EMOM format, but don't let the name scare you. You complete the reps, then whatever time remains in the minute is yours to recover. Want more challenge? Add a few reps. Want a little more recovery? Do fewer.

Grab some dumbbells - or just use your bodyweight - and come tackle lower body day with me.

See you there! https://youtu.be/hUgpHKSg_58

Something a little different today… 🇮🇹👟

Before our trip to Italy, I bought my first pair of Lems. I'd never worn them before, so taking one pair for hiking, sightseeing, hundreds of stairs, little towns in the rain, lattes…and a LOT of walking was a bit of an experiment.

Apparently they passed - I now own three pairs. 😂

We made a little Short from the adventure - come see how they did!

What shoes do you always reach for when you know you'll be doing a lot of walking?

Low impact doesn’t have to mean low energy! 🔥

My new 15-Min Low Impact Cardio Challenge is fast, fun, and completely jump-free.

We’ll work in quick 20-second intervals - 3 cardio intervals stacked together for triple the fun - and then we get a 40-second recovery to catch our breath before we jump back in. 🥳

The moves change before you have time to get bored, and you choose your pace, range of motion, and challenge.

Ready to pick up the pace and have some fun?
