We wanted to give a special shoutout to the County of Santa Clara’s Ballot Layout Division today.
“The Ballot Layout Division performs hard detailed work and always puts voters first,” said Division Coordinator Liz Oviedo. “We proudly provide accurate, accessible election materials to all voters to embrace our diverse community.”
Our office is proud to be recognized with national awards from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, an independent, bipartisan federal agency which focuses on election administration.
Clearinghouse Awards, also known as the “Clearies”, are presented to election offices across the U.S. to highlight innovative programs in election administration. Our office is receiving THREE awards this year - one full award and two honorable mentions!
Clearie winner: Go Green. Our Go Green initiative allows voters to receive their County Voter Information Guide electronically. The program offers convenience, minimizes carbon footprints, and helps save taxpayer dollars.
Honorable mention: Media Day. Our office holds Media Day events for every major election, where the Registrar of Voters and guest speakers address important topics such as how to vote at a Vote Center and the measures in place to ensure a safe and secure elections.
Honorable mention: Elmwood Voting Initiative. A partnership that brought an in-person voting experience inside a correctional facility, ensuring eligible incarcerated individuals could register, vote, and cast their ballots with the same access and dignity as any other voter.
