Rowena Wise
Rowena Wise is a Melbourne/Naarm-based artist whose ruminations on love, alienation, and self-empowerment are fast catching attention. Described by CLASH as “carefully etched indie folk” after having teased a few brilliant singles, she’s finally released her stunning new album, Senseless Acts of Beauty.
Hailing from the Western Australian surf town of Margaret River, Rowena Wise’s musical journey began at a young age. Together with her mother (a folk musician from Chicago) and father (a luthier who builds the custom guitars she plays today), they performed as a family band throughout her youth, playing folk festivals all over. Now, grown up and living on the opposite coast in Melbourne, Rowena is on the precipice of something exciting of her own.

Didirri and I wrote this in our living room late one night, exhausted. Though things had been comfortable for so long - we were arguing about nothing - struggling to speak honestly about the things we’d been avoiding. We felt conflicted—unable to see eye to eye, yet still bound by love. The song explores the path we might have taken had one of us left and how it might feel after all these years. Love can be fragile and should never be taken for granted

I filmed this lyric video for ‘Indifferent’ on my recent album tour. I was in a similar space when I wrote ‘Indifferent’, touring solo through Australia some years ago. Driving in the rain brought back some memories of the loneliness, the exhilaration. Enjoy x
