As a knowledge partner to the Directorate Of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, T-Hub supported the Building a Unicorn in Tripura workshop in Agartala, bringing startup expertise, industry perspectives and practical insights to aspiring founders.

Tejaswi Bhagavatula, VP – Brand, Marketing & Communications at Skyroot Aerospace, shared lessons from building and scaling India’s first space-tech unicorn.

T-Hub also facilitated a hands-on From Idea to MVP workshop led by Vamshi Panjala, Chief Growth Officer at Quantana, helping aspiring entrepreneurs move from an idea towards their first product.

One goal: enable more ambitious startups to emerge from regions like Tripura.

1963 → 2026

1963: India's first rocket rides to the launch pad on a bicycle.
1975: India launches its first satellite, Aryabhata.
2014: Mangalyaan enters Martian orbit on its first attempt.

For decades, ISRO led India's space ambitions.

Then, in 2020, the Government of India opened the space sector to private players. For the first time, startups could build and launch their own rockets.

Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, two former ISRO scientists, chose Hyderabad to build @skyrootaerospace, India's first space-tech unicorn.

This July, Skyroot's Vikram-1, a privately developed rocket, reached orbit, making India the third country in the world to achieve private orbital launch capability, after the United States and China.

But the story doesn't end there.

Skyroot is part of a generation of space-tech founders building in Hyderabad for the world and beyond.

@cosmoserve.space - Building space debris removal technologies; Their capture system demonstrator flew aboard Vikram-1 under Mission Embrace.
Stardour - Building India's first orbital transfer vehicle.
Sanyark Space - Building satellite navigation solutions.

And the list is longer than this post.

Sixty-three years after a bicycle carried India's first rocket to the launch pad, Hyderabad is emerging as India's space-tech frontier.
